A lot of forums have parenting groups, like July 07 babies etc. so I thought it would be nice to introduce something similar on here. Perhaps it will encourage some newcomers to post a bit more! Rather than have month groups I thought we could have age groups so that you can talk to mums with kids who are a similar age, get advice or just chat about what they're up to. As the kids reach the end of the group they can 'graduate' into the next one.
The groups are below. Feel free to post a bit about your kids in the relevant group!
0-6 months - Teeny Babes
For all the newest little babies. Tell us about your little bundles of joy!
6-12 months - Getting going
Getting bigger, getting stronger, getting faster, and a personality to boot!
12-24 months - Little Toddlers
Now the mayhem really starts!
2 - 3 yrs - Troublesome Tots
Smart, sassy and lots of fun!
4-5 yrs - Preschool to school
Starting school and growing up fast
6 - 8 yrs - The Big Kids
Learning so much and becoming the big kids.
9 - 12 yrs - Tweens
Big kids or mini grown ups?
13+ Teens and beyond
For those becoming more adult by the day.

Re: Parenting Groups
I think its nice, but the impression i get by reading them from some people is a bost what there child can do above the rest, not advice and info that people might want to ask, what a forum/group is about.
Re: Parenting Groups
I got that impression too. At the moment it's kind of like a description of your child and what they can and can't do. Hopefully over time though it might change (unless that's what it's meant to be like)

Re: Parenting Groups
I think people are just introducing their kids and saying a bit about them, what they're like etc just to start the ball rolling - my own posts at least were supposed to just be a general introduction, not bragging! Hopefully with time it will become advice but also a place to talk about things they've done whether it's learning to walk, getting a good school report or anything else as well as things you're concerned about and want to talk to other mums with kids in the same age range about.

Re: Parenting Groups
Whats wrong with a mum who wants to boast about their child now and again, everyone does it and so they should if their proud of their child/ren. Boast away everyone i don't mind!
Re: Parenting Groups
I never said it was wrong to boast about your child. It just seemed that's all the sections were about. And if that's what they are for then great but personally I liked it before when a range of people replied to posts about problems not just patents with a child specifically in that age group. I think it might put people off Reading and posting but that again is my opinion. It is louises forum so am sure she knows what she's doing but I am expressing a opinion that's all.

Re: Parenting Groups
In my experience of other forums, people will normally post within parenting groups with general updates and is this normal sort of posts as well as more everyday bits and pieces, but then would start new threads for something like, say, potty training where they want more general input. There's nothing to say people can't post in groups other than the ones their kids are in. I just though it was a way of trying to get the parenting bit a bit more active as it's not at the moment. Really didn't think it would be a big deal and not meant to upset anyone, just thought it would be a nice addition.
