Signals is very excited to announce our second BFI Film Club, a 7 – day course for young people living in the Ipswich area, aged 12-15 to get hands on with filmmaking this October half-term.
Applications are now open for our Ipswich BFI Film Club. A brand new course which introduces young people to new ways of thinking about film. The course is aimed at young people aged 12-15 years, who live in the Ipswich area. The workshops will give young filmmakers the chance to learn, talk about, make and share film through a series of fun and creative workshops.
Ever wanted to give filmmaking a try?
The sessions will include an introduction to camera, sound, scriptwriting and editing, you’ll get hands on with professional equipment and learn about what makes a great film. You don’t need to have any experience just come along and see what you can create.
What are the dates?
Introduction: Saturday 22nd October, 10am – 3.30pm
Workshops:
Monday 24th October, 10am – 3.30pm
Tuesday 25th October, 10am – 3.30pm
Wednesday 26th October, 10am – 3.30pm
Thursday 27th October, 10am – 4.30pm (slightly longer day)
Friday 28th October, 10am – 3.30pm
Final Screening: Saturday 5th November, 10am – 3.30pm
Where is it taking place?
Suffolk New College, Rope Walk, Ipswich IP4 1LT. You can find travel information by clicking here.
How much does it cost?
The course is FREE and bursaries are available for travel, so please don’t let it discourage you from applying.
How to apply?
In order to apply you must:
be aged 12 to 15 years old (at the start of the course)
have an interest in film
and live in an IP (Ipswich) postcode area
If you meet the criteria above, then click here to fill out the application form.
There are just 20 places available so make sure you fill in all the answers on the application form. If you need any help with the application process please contact us we will be more than happy to help.

Autism Friendly – 3D Computer Animation Workshop – 29th Oct – ages 9 -18
Play around with 3D modelling software Blender to make your very own alien spacecraft in our autism friendly workshop.
Learn the basics of Blender, a free computer software and make your own UFO designs by changing the shape and colour of objects and adding materials and modifiers to bring your UFO to life.
When we say bring it to life we really mean it, you will be able to make your UFO into a printable image, that can be scanned with an app on your phone or tablet and it will create an augmented reality video over the top of your picture.
All the software and resources in this workshop are open source and free.
No experience needed.
Please bring a packed lunch, lunch will be for 1 hour between 12 and 1pm.
