Newbie here !

#1 Unread post by Ninaribena » Tue Jan 15, 2013 11:21 pm

Hi all
I live in Leigh on Sea and have a beautiful 5 and a half month old baby girl. Have been a bit sheltered so thought it about time I get out there and talk to some fellow mums :) I may even venture to a group anyone recommend any ? Being a mum has made me a bit shy so need to get my confidence back ! Thanks for reading and hope everyone is having a nice evening :)

Hi Nina, welcome to Essex Mums! I'm Louise, I live in Westcliff and have two kids - Felix who is 5, Iris who is 3 and another on the way due in March. There are a lot nice groups in Leigh, have you ever tried Jo Jingles? Hopefully people can tell you a few others too.

If you fancy chatting you should come and say hello in the daily thread - we start one every day and just have a natter about what we're up to. Doesn't matter how mundane it seems!

I took my son to JJ from about 7 months and my daughter went from when she was born and they both loved it. I wouldn't say it turned them into musical geniuses or anything but it was definitely worth it. Anna who runs the Leigh class is lovely too!

Hi Nina,

Welcome to EM. I am Gina, mum to Mia and Mason. I know what you mean about confidence, I lost alot of mine after having Mia. This site has helped alot and have made some lifelong friends on here. Hoping to see you join in the daily thread and am sure once the weather gets better there will be some meets arranged. Joining in the daily thread is a good way to get to know people.

Hi there

I am Jenny - mum to William who is 5 and James who wil be 2 next month - scary how time flies!

I agree with Gina - totally understand how pregnancy and motherhood can make you lose confidence!

I am from Southchurch way so nt too far away but I'm afraid I don't know any groups in Leigh to suggest.

Have you always been from tis area?

Hi lea and Jenny :)
Thanks for your messages !
I have lived in Leigh on sea for nearly 6 and a half years. Originally from East London but been in Essex for 27 years :)
I was brave today and went to my first group. It was ok. Met a nice girl there. Scarlett enjoyed it but got a bit tired !! Needed a pre group nap - I know for next time :) it was nice to meet other mums. Don't know how I got to be o nervous about these things ?!

Lea - Congratulations on your pregnancy :) x

Thank you :D

Meeting new parents can be scary, but once you start attending things, you'll start regaining your confidence soon enough - I know I started off fairly quiet and now there's no shutting me up!

Hi Gina
Am so glad I bit the bullet and went ! It was nice to get out there. I saw my health visitor again today. I think she is going to leave me be now ! I think she was worried bout me ! So has been seeing me every 3 weeks. Next visit is march for 7 month developmental check for Scarlett woo hoo Seems like ages away but I am sure the time will fly by. She sometimes made me feel worse. They put the fear of god in me today as I mentioned Scarlett had a bumper in her cot ! Apparently they are a no go for under 1year olds I didn't know :( I thought I was just protecting her little head ! Why do all these stores (mamas and papas, mothercare ) sell them with no warning ? It's a mystery to me.
Anyway I hope you had a lovely day today ! It was so cold but lovely when the sun is shining :) xx
