Essex Mums Book Recommendations

#1 Unread post by weezypops » Thu Jun 07, 2012 8:55 pm

I want to put an article together on book recommendations for kids and was wondering if you could help! All and any suggestions are great - favourites of yours, or your kids and for any ages. A lot of mine are picture books, with a few older ones thrown in so I'm looking for suggestions across the board! Don't worry about categorising them by age, I'll do that later!

The Gruffalo
Room on the Broom
The Cat in the Hat
Green Eggs and Ham
The Tiger Who Came to Tea
Peepo!
We're Going on a Bear Hunt
Each Peach Pear Plum
Bear Hunt
My Dad
Voices in the Park
Gorilla
Piggybook
Where the Wild Things Are
How to Catch a Star
Lost and Found
Incredible Book Eating Boy
Slinky Malinky Catflaps
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
The Giving Tree
Green Eggs and Ham
Alfie Gets In First
Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!
In the Night Kitchen
Mog The Forgetful Cat
The Paper Bag Princess
and of course anything by Roald Dahl, though we've only read these as bedtime stories once or twice.
Knuffle Bunny
Not Now Bernard
Burglar Bill
Funnybones
Harry The Dirty Dog
Titch
Don't Forget the Bacon
The Wave
The Hunger Games
Ender's Game
The Chocolate War
Matilda
The BFG
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
The Witches

Flat Stanley - William read it the other week and thought it was excellent.

That's not my books - James likes these

Maybe you should have a list of recommended authors and then individual books? You could say like favourite authors include: Julia Donaldson, Jez Alborough, Roald Dahl, Anne Fine, Moris Gleitzman, Jacqueline Wilson
