Ask qualified counsellor Amanda Wilkins any questions you have about emotional wellbeing, particularly within the pre natal and post natal period.
Hopefully Amanda will come and introduce herself soon!

Re: Introducing myself as your counsellor
Hi everyone,
Firstly, thank you so much Louise for inviting me on board with Essex Mums. I read about this brilliant website three years ago in a newspaper article which, incidentally, I still have! It stated that "the website was going from strength to strength" which couldn't be more true today a further three years on from March 2011. Doesn't time fly? So well done to Louise!
Secondly, a little about me; I am a mother, wife and sister and my children are 7 and 10. My background was in business development and I thrived on working creatively which is the part that I wanted to carry on with. So six years ago, I embarked upon becoming a fully qualified Person Centred Counsellor. You may find this link useful as it explains my way of working: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Person-centered_therapy
I hold full membership of the BACP - British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and you can find me listed in their directory here;

Previously I volunteered for Sure Start and was privileged to be a board member on my local children's centre Management Board. I have worked within maternity services in partnership with Sure Start and I have also represented mums as a lay member on the Maternity Services Liaison Committee at the hospital.
Part of my training to become a counsellor, was that I find a work placement and so I chose to work within the NHS. From there, I was very privileged to become part of a fantastic Perinatal Emotional Wellbeing Service here in Essex. And now, I run my own private practise and specialise in working with those who have or are suffering with post natal depression, anxiety and previous birth trauma. I work with mums and dads across Essex and into London.
It is my wish that I can be of help to you where possible. So lets raise the profile of talking about how we are feeling and what's on our minds and break down the barriers which can lead to a healthy positive emotional wellbeing.
Thank you for taking the time out of your busy lives to read about me and I look forward to working with you here on Essex Mums.
