Writing in year one

#1 Unread post by MumtoIslaandJoe » Sun Jun 29, 2014 12:11 pm

How well should children be able to write in year one? My daughter's writing is still quite scruffy!

I'm not a teacher but my son is in year two and his writing still isn't great! Has her teacher expressed any concern?

No but I kind of feel like her teacher is a bit useless. Maybe that's not fair but we never get any feedback from the school and they're underperforming as it is. Wish we could afford to move somewhere with a better school!

Is she writing joined up?

Also is it scruffy at school as well as at home? Just that my son has lovely writing at school but if he writes anything at home - then it is so messy!

A teacher at our school encouraged playing with little lego to improve handwriting skills? Might be worth a try?
