Advice about Basildon Maternity Services

One of our Basildon mums-to-be would like some feedback on maternity services in Basildon. Basildon hospital is closest to her but she has heard negative things about it and would like to hear others' opinions on the maternity services there. She has heard about a new service - maternity direct - and some less than favourable things about it.

Can anyone offer any feedback or advice that might put her mind at rest or help her make up her mind about what she should do. Are there any other services available to her in the Basildon area?
