Re: How much do you spend on food shopping?
Well did a small Aldi shop today girls and this is the result. Got the following items:
2 mini cheese pizzas
big bag of carrots
1kg bananas
836g of mature cheddar
chicken goujons
grapes
500g pasta
two 6 packs of fromage frais
jar of jam
loaf of multigrain bread
sandwich chicken
2 tines of chopped tomatoes
naan bread (two bits)
10 pack of scones
tomato puree
cheese sauce mix
Total cost... £18.26 bargain!
Checked on the tesco website, an equivalent shopping list would have cost approx £23, and that's with some of their value bits being cheaper. I have to get Tesco delivered as well so avoided that cost too. This is just on a smallish shop, so over a month I should be saving at least £30 by shopping there. Good times! The quality of what we bought was good, particularly the fruit and veg, so i don't feel I have had to sacrifice on that front. Particularly as I price compared with value food, some of which I wouldn't normally buy.

I couldnt reccomend Aldi enough. It's all fantastic quality and really good price. I meal plan and make most meals from scratch so we buy loads of fresh produce each week from there. I've even had apples with the waitrose stickers on them so shows that they have high end suppliers. I'm always raving about Aldi to friends. It's got a pikey reputation but it's completely unfounded.

Well I did the weeks shop at Asdas and managed to keep it to under £80 which I was pleased about. I have also heard Aldi is good.

I am looking forward to when James is a bit better whilst shopping than he is now so that I can properly shop around!

I like Aldi for fruit and veg but find you can't always get everything you want there so it's a bit hit and miss. Some of their meat products are a little iffy too but maybe I've just got used to nice butcher's stuff! The fresh produce is great though!

We will prefer to get our meat from the butcher too. I have had a few 'Chicken' issues with Aldi. Haven't stayed fresh enough in the fridge. Maybe it was a bad batch. x
Re: How much do you spend on food shopping?
Our shopping came to £54 last week and that contained a fair amount of fruit and veg, packed lunch bits, etc.. but not washing powder (which may of increased it by £8 max)
I plan to try Asda, Sainsburys or Morrisons this week to see if there is any significant difference. I tried Aldi and Lidl but found I then had to go elsewhere to get the bits I couldnt get, so although it saved a bit of money, it didnt save time or effort.
