Drs and repeat prescription advice please
Re: Drs and repeat prescription advice please
Hi guys - thanks. Yes we just carried on using calpol and calprofen alternatively along with his (new) inhaler! I was honestly up for him every 20 minutes - for some reason and this morning he gets up at 6 - comes into our room and says I feel perfect and I slept really well???????
I'm glad it was this week and not next week when Mike is away as Mike is so much calmer about things like this.
William always gets a temperature with croup but not normally that high?

Glad to hear the calpol worked. Not nice when they are not well.

So is he totally better this morning? Are you going to keep him home or send him to school?
Re: Drs and repeat prescription advice please
Totally better! But that's how he seems to react to croup? Yesterday he was still a llittle coughy at 8am but fine by 9 but this morning he is fine from the minute of waking up. It makes you feel so silly but I was so certain we would need A+E last night and I was so very scared! Hate croup! Especially when it will probably come back tonight at 4pm ish!
He is going to school - I am worried about letting him do swimming but I will ask some of the mum helpers to make sure he is the first to get dressed when he gets out and hopefully he will be okay.

Wow, it's crazy how they recover from things isn't it? Croup sounds really nasty.
Re: Drs and repeat prescription advice please
Yes - I mean he is exhausted and if he was the kind of child who would sleep this morning then I might keep him off for a nap to recover - but he wouldn't sleep/nap o he might aswell go in! It was funny yesterday actually as there were 3 mums at the door all saying that our child had really bad croup in the night. So those that get it - often get it on the same nights as each other!
Michelle - were yours affected too?

Glad to hear he is back to normal Jenn. They are a worry aren't they. I've seen children in hospital with croup, it looks horrible.

Children are so up and down when they are ill, we have parents phoning saying they are not well and by the time they bring them to the surgery they are charging about, parents apologise saying they were really bad during the night and morning. Luckily all us receptionists at work are mums/grandmothers so we know what kids are like lol.

When we were on neptune Ward with croup - it was just like that! It was 2 in the morning and there were about 5 children (William was the youngest) who were all ill and needed treatment but they were all up and playing with all the toys and all very happy! But as I say - they were ill!

Oh poor William.
When Ted got croup and i phoned NHS direct and the lady could hear Ted struggling to breathe and phoned an ambulance. When we got to a and e he was put on a nebuliser for a while and then after that he was right back to normal and we went home. Children do just bounce back bless them. There must be something in the air this week as Gus was bad at the start.
