Gardening

#1 Unread post by weezypops » Tue Mar 22, 2011 3:38 pm

Now that the sun is shining, what are we all thinking of growing this year? I've started attempting to clear the garden up a bit, have cut back the enormous sage plant and need to get on with seeing if our compost is any good and trying to use some of it to make the beds a bit nicer. I'd like to plant some veggies again this year but tend them a bit better as we didn't have much luck last year. Also need to get the grass growing as it's pretty patchy after the garden got rearranged. I can't wait to start planting things though - I'm wondering how much will come up from last year!

I stay out of the garden, that is Steves department, I am dreading it now that all the plants will be on sale, he can spend a fortune, think I may have to look after the debit card ;)

Although when I was out in the garden earlier did notice that the strawberry plants from last year all have new shoots on them, so looking forward to them being ready later this year.

I have wanted to grow veg but we dont really have the space for a veg patch and you dont have to dig deep til you hit rubble, it is only about 6" of mud. Have got some herbs in a pot and they are sprouting well aswell.

I am sticking to colour on my deck as the slugs dont like climbing up there and shrubs in my beds. Every year I put colour in my beds it just gets eaten. I think sweet peas and a clematis up my trellis and then tomatoes and strawberries in my big tubs. I started to clear up winter last week but got a bit pooped,so it is one of my jobs for when I've finished work in a couple of weeks.
