Ask for Your Advice
Hi! I think it’s not the right place to post, but as it’s a forum for mums there may be someone here who would help me. At least I suppose I’ll find new friends here. Here are some words about me. I’m 37 years old, and I suffer from early menopause. Actually, I started to have problems with my periods 5 years ago. Everything started with short delays, and 10 months ago was the last time I had my periods. I’ve passed all possible tests, and my gyny diagnosed me with early menopause. Two years ago, I married a very good man. We love each other greatly, and we want to have a child. As I’m not able to ovulate any more, the doctor advises us to try egg donation. However, this procedure is very expensive in the place where we live. We decided to go to Ukraine and try our luck there. We contacted one Ukrainian clinic. My husband and I decided to choose this clinic, because we’ve found loads of favorable feedbacks about this clinic. We also liked their prices and the package of services they offered us. When we came to Ukraine, we were met by the driver at the airport. The clinic supplied us with the apartment and meals, and it was really nice. Firstly, the clinic was located in a private villa overcrowded with visitors. There wasn’t even a vacant place to stand. The clinic’s administrator turned to be a very unfriendly lady. We heard how she had a loud arguing with one couple, and it was a little bit shocking…. The clinic was really overcrowded with visitors, and each couple required nearly half an hour to consult a doctor. We had to wait nearly two hours before the doctor was ready to meet us. We visited another clinic in Kiev. The things were quite different there. We were met by a courteous administrator, and the doctor was extremely soothing… However, the clinic was empty. Now, we’re hesitating whether to deal with them or not. What do you think about this?
P.S. Maybe, there is someone here who is in the same boat like me. Please, share your experience with me.

Hi, dear! Really sorry for you! I don’t think the clinic should have made you wait so much time in the queue. I don’t think reputable clinics treat their clients like this. If I were you, I would quit them as soon as possible…
P.S. Hun, if you’re still interested in them, check their success rates. I think then you’ll understand whether to deal with them or not.

Re: Ask for Your Advice
The clinics seems to be not bad for the first sight. Before visiting them, we visited loads of fertility forums and found quite a lot of feedbacks about them. Most of them were favorable ones. In addition, they have very reasonable prices. It’s really vital for us, as we can’t spend much now. In the UK, some reputable clinic have long waiting lists, so we decided to find the place where the things are done much quicker and at a reasonable price. These were the main reasons why we’ve chosen them.

Re: Ask for Your Advice
Egg donation isn’t cheap in the UK. This is the main reason why some couples reproductive clinics that are situated overseas. If I were in your shoes, I would check the way the clinic selects egg donors for their patients. It’s necessary to do this as loads of things depend on the oocytes quality. The donor should also have a good heredity. Just check these things and you’ll see whether it’s worth dealing with them or not. Good luck!
Re: Ask for Your Advice
The clinic seems to be a selective one. In the contract that we have to sign up they state that the donors should be 18-25 years old. They must be totally healthy so all women who want to donate their eggs must do a set of tests to reveal their health condition. An egg donor must be also a mum of at least one healthy child. The clinic’s specialists will also check the donor’s genealogical tree to assess her heredity. A woman won’t be accepted as an egg donor if her parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts or uncles have hereditary diseases. This is how they are going to look for a donor for us. I think these requirements are quite reasonable. It’s one of the reasons why we hesitate. What do you think about it?

Re: Ask for Your Advice
MissPolly, these are the standards requirements that every fertility clinic should use while selecting egg donors for their patients. All reputable clinics offer oocytes of young and healthy woman as they are supposed to have the best quality. Nevertheless, I would like to know how they are actually going to find an egg donor for you. Some clinics provide their clients with the donor’s portfolio. Others give an opportunity to look at the donor’s photos of her early childhood. What about the clinic you’ve got interested in??? How will they find an egg donor for you?
Re: Ask for Your Advice
We sent the clinic a short description of the woman who would suit us as an egg donor before visiting for the first time. We included such details as height, weight, hair and eyes color. Our program coordinator told us that the clinic has a large database of egg donors. They use a special software to find an appropriate egg donor. If we sign up a contract with them, we’ll be able to see the donor’s 3D photo. This is how they are going to choose an egg donor for us. I think it’s really very handy. What do you think about it, hun?

Sounds not bad, hun. I think it’s great that you’ll be able to see the 3D photo of the woman who is going to donate her eggs to you. I think it will give you an opportunity to make the right choice. But will you have to pay any additional fees for this service? As far as I know, some fertility clinics do this. They may ask you do some additional tests to make more money. Does the clinic you’ve got interested in do the same?
Re: Ask for Your Advice
I don’t think they would charge any additional fees. We have to sign up a contract. According to this contract, the clinic would charge a fixed sum. It means no additional fees will be charged. As we’re going to book several installments, the sum will be divided into several payments. We may make the payments either in cash or via a bank transfer. What do you think about it?
Re: Ask for Your Advice
When I've read your original post, I wanted to admit that it wasn't a good idea to start treatment in a clinic where you found so many unpleasant moments for yourself. I mean, when you want something so much you must be sure that everything will be perfect. you also need to trust your gut and feel it's yours.
but now I see you are with this clinic. well, it's a risk I believe. I hope that those bad experience won't influence your farther journey. Maybe it was a bad day and everyone had too much work, I dunno. Is that alright now?

Sounds not bad, hun. At least, you’ll be able to plan your expenses and you won’t be nervous that the RE asks you to do any additional tests. For me, it’s a big pros. MissPolly, you’ve written that the clinic is situated in Ukraine. It’s a poor country. In addition, it’s at war now. Why have you chosen it as your final destination?
Re: Ask for Your Advice
You’re partially right, Red-haired witch. The country is really in a political and economic crisis now. However, the things aren’t as bad as you think. We visited Kiev. It’s a capital city of Ukraine. The city turned to be very safe and peaceful. It looked very European. I must say that Kiev is really cheap. We could have a nice lunch in a VIP restaurant there, and they didn’t charge much. The prices are really very low there. We didn’t have to look for an apartment. The clinic we contacted provided us with a comfortable apartment not far from the city center. Every time we needed to visit the clinic, they sent a driver to pick us up. The driver even met us at the airport. It was really very handy as we didn’t have to look for an apartment. They even provided us with free meals. Our program coordinator was our interpreter. She followed us during our visits to the clinic and helped us to communicate with the clinic’s staff.
Re: Ask for Your Advice
Hi, MissPolly. I also have some problems with my fertility. It seems ED is my only chance to conceive. My DH and I haven’t chosen which fertility clinic to deal with. We have contacted one fertility clinic in Ukraine and are curious to get some feedback about the other Ukrainian fertility clinics. So which clinic are you interested in? Could you please share the list of the tests they require for their DE IVF?
Re: Ask for Your Advice
We’re going to deal with Biotexcom. This clinic is situated in Kiev, the capital city of Ukraine. I think the list of the health tests necessary for the DE IVF is quite standard. So I don’t think that they would require anything special. As far as I remember, I did several hormone and blood tests. I also did several ultrasound checks. My hubby did a sperm test. At any rate, visit their official website and you’ll know what they require.
Re: Ask for Your Advice
Hello, I feel sorry for you, I know what is to be infertile because we've faced this issue too. Due to my poor health condition I can't carry a baby.
I;ve lost my faith and thought I would never be a mom. My last years were full of devastation and tears, I couldn't live a normal life. So I do really understand you.
Thanks God we wound a clinic, also abroad, in europe which gave us a hope. I'm currently with them, waiting for blood test. It has been passed 2ww, I'm over the moon, can't express my inner state with words.
p.s. how are you? how's your process is moving on?
