Hello from Linda

I have been teaching Hatha Yoga in south-east Essex (Hadleigh, Southend and Leigh area) for over twenty five years, at Adult Education Centres and in private classes. I also now teach specialist classes for pregnancy and postnatal yoga. My classes are informal, friendly and suitable for all. They are mixed ability, and on-going, so you can join at any time of the year.

They consist of loosening exercises, hatha yoga asanas (postures), breathing techniques and periods of relaxation. I aim to promote a feeling of well-being, both physically and mentally, and encourage the use of yoga as a helpful tool in the management of stress. All that is required is something to lay on, comfortable light clothing, and an open mind!

Please contact me prior to coming along if you are pregnant or have any medical condition that you feel I should be aware of, or if you have any further queries regarding the classes.

£4.50 per class payable 6 weeks ahead (£27) or £5.50 payable on the day

(Please bring your own yoga mat as there are none in the hall)

These classes are mixed ability and suitable for complete beginners, and improvers.



Yoga for Pregnancy

These classes are especially for pregnant ladies between 15 weeks and 40 weeks.

They are friendly informal classes, and very gentle, suitable for complete beginners. Emphasis is on simple movements to encourage optimal foetal postioning, breathing and relaxation exercises. Many benefits are gained helping pregnancy, labour and birth to run more smoothly, often with little intervention and pain relief being used.

Classes are held at 7.45-9.00pm on Wednesday evenings at:

Westwood Primary School
Beresford Close (off Beresford Gardens)
Hadleigh SS7 2SU

This is a drop-in class - £5 per session payable on the night. Please bring a mat as there are none in the hall.

The above class usually follows school terms.

If preferred I teach on a private 'one to one' basis, (during the day time) and can either come along to your house, or you can come to mine! This is for an hour, and I tailor a class to your specific needs and requirements depending on your stage of pregnancy and bring handouts, blocks and mats etc. (This can be a shared session with one or two friends).

NEW WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON CLASS STARTING 2013- Ring/Email for information.....


Labour Preparation
I offer a one off labour preparation session for you and your birthing partner in your own home. (or mine if your prefer) This session can be carried out at any time, but is most helpful when you reach your third trimester (from 28 weeks onwards).

This session is useful for birthing partners, as they will learn simple hints and tips on how to help mum-to-be cope during her labour and birth.

Being supportive and encouraging at this time, and helping with simple movements and breathing techniques can be very reassuring, and also helps your partner to feel useful and included.

This hour long session costs £25 (and can be a shared session if wished)

These sessions are available all year round.

Newborn Session
I offer a 'one to one' session for mother and new born baby in your own home soon after you have had your baby.

This session includes:-

Learning various handling positions for baby, to help ease colic, wind and tummy aches in babies - with awareness of good postural support for mum.

Pelvic floor strengthening exercises which are essential at this time, to help all the healing processes from within, and to help strengthen the back. Also gentle stretches to relieve 'feeding hunch' and help regain good posture.

Calm breathing exercises and relaxation to help mums cope with all the physical and mental demands of new motherhood, and to relieve stress and anxiety.

This is invaluable as good practices started straight away can help mum and baby to bond with confidence, and enjoy this new stage of their lives.

These sessions can be carried out before your 6 week check up as they are very gentle, tailored to suit you and your baby's needs individually depending on your birthing experience.

I can come to your house, or you can come along to mine if you prefer.

(This can be a shared session if wished).

Postnatal Classes
POST NATAL MOTHER AND BABY YOGA bring together activities and relaxation practices that are beneficial for both baby and mother. The sessions are gentle and tailored to suit mums from six weeks after the birth onwards, and babies up to approx. four months old. For mums yoga can aid postnatal recovery, strengthens the pelvic floor and also the abdominal muscles. It strengthens the back and supports good posture. It promotes relaxation and restful sleep, relieves stress and anxiety and boosts energy levels. For babies, yoga helps with the bonding processes and can relieve common ailments such as colic, wind and constipation. Yoga will also encourage good feeding, promote restful sleep and support infant development with appropriate sensory stimulation. For information regarding small group sessions for mums with babies during the daytime please contact me. One to one private daytime sessions are also available

POST NATAL MOTHER AND BABY CLASS - 4 week courses -

These classes are very gentle and informal and no previous experience is required. Please email me or telephone me if you would like to come along as numbers are limited. They must be pre-booked in advance. (Please bring a yoga mat, and a pillow for baby to lay on and any other 'baby bits' you think you may need, i.e. for feeding/changing etc.)



Blenheim Children's Centre, School Way, Blenheim Chase, Leigh on Sea, SS9 4HX

4 week courses throughout the year - Tuesdays 12.30-1.30pm, ( pre-book and pre-pay). It is essential to pre-book and pre-pay to secure a place as numbers are limited and places are filled quickly. (Babies should be between the ages of 6 weeks and 3 months approx. at the beginning of the course)

New pregnancy daytime class will be starting in March at 'Breathe', in Leigh - 4 week courses, Wednesdays 1.30-2.30pm.
