Chelmsford NCT Baby Groups

Parent Support Groups

As the Chelmsford & District Branch covers such a wide area of Essex, the parent support or coffee groups, play a vital part in making contact with new parents. You’re very welcome at coffee mornings etc before you’ve had your baby, and it gives you a chance to meet other parents in your area. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me or your local Rep to find out about your local activities. We welcome everyone with preschool children (you don’t need to be an NCT member!) so you can bring friends/relatives along too.

Groups currently running are:

DANBURY & LITTLE BADDOW

We meet on Wednesday mornings for coffee and a chat in our homes. More details please contact Mel on 01245 222731 or email wellhouse@hotmail.com. All newcomers are very welcome.

GREAT BADDOW/GALLEYWOOD

We meet weekly on Tuesday mornings from 10am til 12noon at St Pauls Church hall on Loftin Way. The group caters for a wide age range of children, with carpeted areas for babies, and toys and activities for all ages. All newcomers are very welcome. Please contact Rachael on 07805 442578 or email rachaelemmabond@gmail.com

MOULSHAM

Meets in St Johns Church, Moulsham Street on Fridays between 10 and 12. Please contact Laurie on 07817 683360 or email laurie.ell@live.co.uk

RAINSFORD AND BROOMFIELD

Meets every Thursday morning between 10 and 12 at the Church of the Ascension Hall (behind the church). Contact Catherine 01245 473662 or email catgoodey@gmail.com

Also a bumps and babes group operates in the Rainsford area. Contact Catherine for more details.

SOUTH WOODHAM FERRERS

NCT to launch new support group for Witham parents

NCT Chelmsford and District branch is delighted to announce the launch of a new regular Parent Support Group in Witham for new and expectant mums and dads, whether it’s their first, second or fifth baby!

The group runs every Friday, 10am-11.30am at Springlodge Community Centre and all parents are welcome to come along, regardless of whether they are an NCT member or not. The first Group starts on Friday 6 September and will be free to attend.

Set up by parent charity NCT, Parent Support Groups provide relaxed and informal get-togethers, in community venues with enough room for buggies, babies and a close circle of parents. It is a great place for parents and parents-to-be to make new friends, share tips and chat with those going through the same things – as well as providing a safe and fun environment for children to play.

As well as lots of free play activities and toys for all ages at the new Witham group, there will be arts and crafts and special activities throughout the year. There will also be refreshments available.

Catherine Goodey, Parent Support Coordinator, said: “Having a baby is an amazing experience but it can also be quite isolating. Coming to this group gives you a reason to get out of the house and socialise with people in your local area who can understand what you’re going through. We’re open to everybody and are always looking for new mums and dads to join.”

This is the first new Parent Support Group in Witham for around four years and it is on the lookout for toys suitable for under-5’s. Any donations would be welcome, just email chelmsfordnct@yahoo.co.uk if you can help.

The branch offers a range of services and activities for local parents from Cheeky Monkey Tea Parties and a Halloween disco to information events and support groups.

For more information on the Chelmsford and District branch of NCT and our new Witham group, check out our facebook page, visit www.nct.org.uk/branches/chelmsford, or email chelmsfordnct@yahoo.co.uk.

The Basildon, Billericay and Wickford branch runs a weekly social & support drop-in group for all expectant and new parents or carers. The group meets every Wednesday morning from 10am to 12pm at the Noak Bridge Village Hall which is on Coppice Lane, Noak Bridge (SS15 4JS). For a map please click here.

Open to NCT members and non-members, we're aiming to offer a friendly, caring place where parents and carers can come with either their bumps or their babies & toddlers and meet other parents and volunteers from the branch. It doesn't matter where or how you had your baby or how you are choosing to feed or parent your baby - we're open to all! We provide a safe area for the babies to be and play, and toys and fun for older children. There is regular music & singing and craft activities, information and support. We also occasionally invite visitors along such as baby sign, and organise outside events like picnics and nights out.

We ask for a £2 donation per family for attending, but along with all the activities already mentioned you also get all your refreshments included - hot and cold drinks, cakes, biscuits and sometimes... more!

If you want to find out more please call 0844 243 6040 option 1 or email Claire at bbwbumpsandbabies@nct.org.uk

Contact: Lisa-Jane Taylor and Heidi Kear
Email: nctraynegroup@yahoo.co.uk

Telephone: 07974 317422

This is a weekly Thursday group split into 2 safe sections - for new babies and the more mobile babies/toddlers.
We are the only NCT group in Essex to have been awarded the Prelearning Alliance best practice award due to our safety and hygeine processes we have in place.

A wide variety of mums, members and non members meet at our 'turn up' group. We are often complimented on the fact that this is a very non clicky group and how welcome new mums are made to feel.

It costs £2 each family including refreshments and is run entirely by volunteers. We finish each session singing nursery rhymes and using the parachute.

Every 2 or 3 weeks we have a business come in to do a taster session with us - Jo Jingles, Baby Sensory, Baby Reflexology, TumbleTots etc.. have all been and also retailers - Photography, Baby Clothes, Maternity Wear, Foot Casting etc..

Pls park in our huge car park or if full, on the road.

There is baby changing facilities available and a small children's playground outside.

Please join our Facebook group to see the events.

NCT Nearly New Sale

21/04/18 and 20/10/18

Hylands School
Chelmsford

NCT Nearly New Sale. Ideal opportunity to kit out your babies/children with good quality secondhand items at substantially reduced prices.

If you've not been to one of our sales before, be prepared for a shopping treat! Our sale is sorted (different from a table top sale) so the hall will be like a mini-department store with all items organised so you can find all the size 3-4 trousers (for example) in the same place. All items are priced up ahead of the sale, as the sellers aren't on hand there is no haggling or offending anyone by not buying something from their table. Expect lots of clothes, bedding, cots, reusable nappies, pushchairs, growbags, toys, books, potties and many other baby and children's items. There will be a cafe with yummy items donated to assist our fundraising efforts for the NCT Charity. For more information, please see our website: www.nct.org.uk/branches/chelmsford-7 or contact us at nns.chelmsford@nct.org.uk Entry is from 12.30pm for NCT members (with valid membership card) and from 1pm for the general public. Entry is £2.00 per adult and all proceeds support the work of the NCT
