Dad in Westcliff

#1 Unread post by dadwestcliff » Sat Dec 24, 2011 3:55 am

I have recently moved to Westcliff-on-sea. I have a 3 year old daughter and 9 year old son. At the moment they are here with me during the holiday times and I am trying to find them friends or playmates locally. I live close to Chalkwell Park. Since they are not in school here (at the moment) it is hard for me to find friends for them.

please email me if you can help...

Many thanks

David

Hi David!

Welcome to the forum!

I'm Jenny from Southend and have a 4 yr old son and a toddler too!

I'm afraid - we are very busy over the holidays :(

Hope you enjoy the holidays.

Hi David,

Welcome to the site! I'm Louise and I live in Westcliff too - I have two kids, Felix who is 4 and Iris who is 2. I can imagine it's tough for them to make friends, as you say, especially around this time of year. It's a shame you didn't join last week as we had a CHristmas Party you could have come along to!

Hi David,
There are a number of dads+kids groups that meet in various children's centres across the town. Each of them are run by dad-friendly staff and toys, play equipment and sometimes themed events take place. They often have a breakfast/brunch as part of the session, and all are very reasonably priced. Each group is attended by a number of dads/male carers and their kids, whose ages normally range from toddler up to around 8-10 years.
As you live in Chalkwell, here are details of the two groups closest to you:
Daddy Cool, Prince Avenue Children's Centre, Hornby Avenue, Westcliff, contact Caroline Thornton/Clare Bullivant on 01702 311411. They meet on 4th Saturday of month, 9.30-12.00.
Dad's Time, Blenheim Children's Centre, School Way, Blenheim Chase, Westcliff, contact Stewart Bailey/Caroline Reynolds on 01702 474684. They meet last Saturday of month, 10.00-12.00.
If you (or any other reader) needs more information about these or other groups in the area, please feel free to call me on 01702 212201.
Cheers,
Alan
