Would you like an allotment in Hockley?

#1 Unread post by seeorganicgardeners » Fri Mar 07, 2014 11:18 am

Now that the worst of our Winter is hopefully behind us, perhaps thoughts at last are turning to the Spring and the forthcoming gardening year?

If you know of anyone interested in taking an allotment in either Hockley or Hawkwell, the relevant Parish Council has a duty to register each request and, if there is sufficient demand, they are obliged to look further into the possibility of supplying suitable land.

SE Essex Organic Gardeners and the Hockley & District Horticultural Society have already researched the possibility of suitable land within the area with positive outcomes. However, to move things forward, this will need interest from at least six local residents.

If you know anyone, therefore, who is keen to pursue the opportunity of an allotment to grow their vegetables and flowers, please ask them to contact either Hawkwell or Hockley Parish Council (depending where they live) to register their name with full contact details at either of the following email addresses:

clerk@hockley-essex.gov.uk or
info@hawkwellparishcouncil.gov.uk

They must ask for an acknowledgement and copy in caroleshorney@hotmail.com to keep us fully up-to-date with registration numbers.

The Hockley Parish Clerk is due to start a feasibility study in April.
