Full Time Programme Coordinator, Salary £28,000 per annum (This post is for one year and may be extended depending on further funding)

Parents 1st is an award winning social enterprise that enables parents to give their babies the best possible start in life. Becoming a parent is a major life transition when people are faced with challenges in their lives. Our carefully recruited and trained Volunteers offer informal peer support starting in pregnancy, through labour and child birth, and the early months of family life. Parents describe their Volunteer as “someone in their corner” who walks the journey with them, giving them emotional or practical support, useful information, easier access to services and a more positive birth experience. We are seeking to replace our existing Programme Coordinator who although fairly new in post is reluctantly leaving due to a change in personal circumstances.

You will be responsible for coordinating the day to day running of the Programme across Thurrock, Basildon, Billericay and Wickford along with supporting the expansion to Canvey Island. Key responsibilities include: supervising a small team of Development Workers; volunteer recruitment, training, supervision and personal development; promoting referrals; ensuring effective volunteer support in the home, maternity unit and community; and efficient Programme evaluation. You will be supported by the Parents 1st Programme Manager and wider staff team.

You should be educated to NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in a relevant qualification. It is essential that you are: competent in using IT packages, experienced in project management, line managing paid staff, child safeguarding, and working with vulnerable parents.
