I made something really good the other day using those new Schwartz 'Flavourful' spice mixes:

800g chicken
1 pack bacon
1 pack of Spanish Chicken spice mix
1 tin of tomatoes
1 can of condensed tomato soup
1 soup can of water
3/4 medium potatoes
4 medium carrots
2 red onions

put all in slow cooker and cook on medium for about 6 hours.

Serve with rice and grated cheese.

There was enough for at least 2/3 dinners here!

rice pudding

#32 Unread post by mummy2jayden » Sun Jan 03, 2010 5:55 pm

for a 2.5 litre slow cooker:
25g butter
100g pudding rice
100g sugar
1 litre milk
grated nutmeg

for 4.5 litre slow cooker
40g butter
150g pudding rice
150g sugar
11/2 litres milk
grated nutmeg

Butter inside of the crockpot, add all ingredients and cook for 4/5 hours depending on how thick you want it.

Not so good for those on a diet but as a treat it is bloody fantastic. Best rice pudding ive ever had! You could substitute the nutmeg for lemon or so a chocolate and orange pudding. Definately recommended!

I did a chili con carne in the slow cooker the other day just to see if it was doable, and it was pretty yummy. I just did normal chili ingredients (minced beef, wine, tomatoes, kidney beans, cumin, coriander and chili powder) then added the rice and some stock to the mix too, so the rice was mixed in with the chili. It was pretty yummy!

We used the slow cooker last night.

Grated loads of veg - courgette, carrot, celery and did a passata, tomato puree and a bit of chicken stock. Cannelini beans and mushrooms. Perfect for a cold night and very yummy! I have the leftover soup part in the fridge for my lunch today! Yum yum yum!

I must confess, this one is a bit of a cheat! I put pork steaks, onions, mushrooms and sweetcorn in and then add a jar of Homepride red wine sauce  It is yummy though!

It's okay to cheat! Slow cookers are meant to be easy!

Louise i made your salsa chicken recipe the other night and all 3 of us really enjoyed it! Will definately be making that again although did you really use 1kg of chicken? Seems an awful lot. I just put in 3 chicken breasts (to cater for all of us) and them seemed plenty.

I do, but it lasts for 3/4 meals. I like to make enormous batches of things then freeze them or Kester takes them for lunch.

Yeah, I think so! It's been a while since I made it so it's possible I have the measurements wrong though. Hmm.
