From the site:
What is parenting support?
Parenting support is provided on a one to one basis. A trained parenting professional gives information and assistance to parents on the needs of their child or children. Parenting support also includes education and supervision.
North Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust offers a range of support, depending on individual family circumstances.
What is a parenting programme?
Parenting programmes are organised groups of parents who meet regularly over a set period of time. The group is facilitated by professionals trained in parenting skills.
Parenting programmes teach parents to recognise the common behaviours children exhibit. Parents learn how to encourage good behaviours and how to manage undesirable traits.
The groups help many parents to discover that parenting can be fun as well as challenging.
How do I find out what is going on in my local area?
There is a range of parenting support and parenting programmes available in Essex.
Some of this support and some programmes are run by us and some are run by other organisations.
There is a short waiting list in some areas because of the demand for places.
Sometimes a parent can join a parenting programme or ask for parenting support themselves by contacting the organiser. Other times parents need to be referred to the organiser by their GP or school.
There are groups that do not advertise themselves. You can find out about these groups by contacting your local health visitor, family centre or local child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS).
