Nursery recommendations Shoebury/Wakering/Southend

#1 Unread post by sarahspider » Mon Oct 10, 2011 5:18 pm

Hi there,
Starting to look for Childcare for when we move. WIll need to be 3 full days a week.
Ideally Shoebury/Wakering area but can get to Southend.

Is there anywhere that people really rate.....or hate???

Ive a prospectus for Rascals on Little Wakering Rd but thats as far as ive got so far.

Jude will be 2 and a bit when we go.

Having a look around will be difficult as we're 2.5hrs away at the moment but hoping to visit a few in a day in the new year and make a day of it!! :P

Any help/advice greatly appreciated. My mum has Jude at the moment when im at work so dont even know what im really menat to be looking for in a good nursery!! xx

We've used Shoebury Childrens centre before (Delaware Road), it is good especially if you need early mornings / later nights - has its own building (childrens centre)

Thorpedene Pre-school (Delaware Road) is superb, my daughter has just graduated from there and it is part of the school but does accept children from anywhere locally, the prices are reasonable and they have full use of the school equipment and grounds so they often leave knowing how to do alot they will learn in reception lol - based in the school grounds.

I have heard Little Fishes pre- school is good (although there is a long waiting list) and also Ready Teddy go pre-school (Also on Delaware Road) - Although I havent used these ones - they are based in a hall.

Centre Place Family Centre, Prospect Close. Great nursery and undersubscribed at the moment (p.s. I work there in case you hadn't realised lol)

The childrens centre are definately the best in my opinion. My little boy goes to Cockleshell Childrens Centre, which is on Ambleside Drive. I tried Shoebury Childrens Centre but they were full. My boy loves it there and the carers are very friendly.

I have friends who went to Busy Bees in Wakering. They were very happy with it and the mum was on the fundraising schemes and things and we went to some really fun quiz nights and things!
