Elysia

#1 Unread post by Millie_loves_Luca » Fri Sep 06, 2013 12:37 pm

Hi,

I love the name Elysia, but my husband, mum, everyone basically doesn't like it, and my daughter has another favourite which is proving more popular.

My sister also feels that it is too close to her daughter's name, although I never realised until she pointed it out. I still like it though, can't help it!

Did anyone else have this, did you get to use the name?

Helena

I had that Alexa and people were a bit like 'oh.....that's unusual'. And took ages before I had anyone say they liked her name. Tbh I didn't really care. It's none of anyone else's business what anyone else says about it. It's your baby and your decision.

Thanks Michelle, most of my family didn't like Amalia and I assume they still don't but it definitely suits her x

Of those it would only really be my husband's view that would sway me as we've always made the naming decisions together and if he really didn't like something I would begrudgingly give it up! The others wouldn't concern me, though I would look at why it wasn't generally liked.

I agree with Louise if your husband doesn't like it I wouldn't use it. Annoying but its got to be a joint decision.

I think it's a beautiful name and really don't understand why anyone doesn't like it? But I do agree with Louise and Michelle, ultimately it is yours and your hubbies decision, nobody else's business. Most of my family didn't Ashleigh but it was and still is my favourite name so I'm glad I stuck to my guns :)

It's funny how people don't like certain names. You could understand if it was a silly made up name but names like Alexa and Ashleigh are just normal pretty names so why wouldn't anyone like them!?!?!

One of our choices for Alexa was Ashleigh!

With josh I basically said it and Paul grew to like it lol. With Alexa as soon as I said it we were both like 'yeah' that's the one. When you know you know!!

I can't imagine calling my kids any other name. If you can't either then you've got the right name.

Don't forget she may come out and another name may jump out at you.

I love alexa and Ashleigh! I wouldn't personally have chosen the same names as my sister chose for her children but they definitely suit them both, maybe we just know when it comes to our own children x

My MIL's middle name was Diana, and we want to use it for baby as well. I was worried that if the royal baby was a girl she would be Diana and everyone would think that was the reason! X

What is your sisters girls name that's similar then?
Diana as a first or middle name?

Diana will be her second name. My niece is Ella Rose but I would shorten my child's name to Lissie, not Ellie x

They're completely different! I know of 3 different children with spellings of Alyssia, elicia and Alisha all pronounced the same!
