Boy's Name Shortlist...

#1 Unread post by lea-marie » Mon Dec 17, 2012 10:26 am

So we picked a girl's name, and we're completely 100% happy with it so I won't be mentioning that one, but this is the shortlist we have for boy's names... We have picked one that we think we want, but this is the shortlist we're running from:

Clark
Riley
Xavier
Jensen
Carter
Lex
Thor

Jensen makes us giggle as Andy's surname is Sutton, so it'd be Jensen Sutton!

How would you pronounce Xavier? LIke Zay-vee-er, Zav-ee-er or Hav-ee-er?

Would he have the surname Sutton then? I think (for me) I wouldn't be so keen on Jensen and Lex because of the S sounds towards the end and how they sound with Sutton.

Xavier would be 'Zay-vee-er' - We were thinking between Xavier or Xander, as Andy has a little thing about names begining with X, but Xavier has a superhero link too (Professor X from X-Men), so that won out! lol

Yeah, the baby will have Andy's surname... Sutton sounds infinitely better than Cribbs!

We're not hugely swaying for Lex tbh, but it's on the list all the same! Our top ones are Jensen, Riley and Clark (though I think Clark Sutton just sounds like two surnames put together lol)

I like Carter or Lex. Thor not keen on I'm afraid and also I know too many kids with the names Jenson and Riley so that puts me off. Clark I'm not sure about as its my surname but not sure I like as a first name!! Xavier I think of as a naughty boy as the 2 boys I know called that are naughty!
You are good sorting it out so early.x

I like to be prepared Rachel! We've had names for a while now, and while the girl's name took all of two seconds to agree on, the boy's name has been more 'fun', as Andy and I have differing tastes in names on the most part, so finding compromise hasn't been easy!

I've always liked traditional names for boys, but Andy hates anything like that - He has always wanted to name his son with a superhero name (my other half is a massive comic geek lol), which I wasn't too keen on. So this is the list we compromised on (to a point)... Riley just appeared in the list, and Jensen we've actually taken from an actor (Jensen Ackles from Supernatural), but the others are all based on comic characters etc

Thor has almost become a joke now, as Andy was really set of having either that or Cal-El (Superman's real name), but I put my foot down MASSIVELY as I would not only be concerned about the child being mocked, but also, I'd be soooo embarassed telling people my own child's name!

We had originally picked Logan, but I then told a few people and in the last couple of months, two friends have had boys and called them Logan! One was apologetic and said they didn't mean to, and the other one openly admits they pinched as they didn't have one themselves lol

So last night Andy threw in a new name : What do you all think of Chester?

When he first said it, I instantly said no, but now I've been thinking about it, I actually think I really like it

I don't watch Home and Away, so have no idea

I didn't like Chester when he first mentioned it, but it has really grown on me over night, to the point that I'm kind of prefering it over Jensen now! lol

Chester Sutton... Sounds cute!

Chester is very cute! And a little unusual so kinda cool!

We've not even started thinking names yet, I think we'll wait til we know what we're having! Although, like you, really struggled when we had Harry, and had a girls name all sorted!! We'd figured his middle names out before his first lol! x

I think Chester is out now since Charli hates it

We bought a name book yesterday so will be going through that and pulling together a list... Still 6 weeks odd until we find out! :(
