Where are your kids going to school?

Thought it might be nice to talk about where our kids are going to school/preschool this year, especially for those with kids just starting - maybe we'll find Mums with kids at the same places!

Felix goes to Little Treasures nursery in Westcliff. He's been going once or twice a week for a while but is starting every afternoon from next week. It's going to be so weird!

Mia is starting at The Westborough School in Westcliff. She has been at the school nursery since January which is nice for her as she will have already made friends.

My eldest is starting Sandon secondary school when did I get so old? lol

My little boy is starting Thorpe Greenways on the 13th!

Why are the starting dates so varied?
We all used to go back on the same day.
Summer holidays were spent playing with 'the gang' and the 'gang' went back to school together albeit seperate schools.

Jeanette its just the ones starting reception that are different, At some schools when they start they just do mornings or afternoons for a while and then go into full days but the school Ted is going to they have a few children a day join so the children and teachers aren't overwhelmed with 30 children in one day. Ted goes full days straight away.

There is a day or 2 difference for the older ones too. The schools are allowed to have an allocated amount throughout the year that they have off. Some schools add it to the end of a term or take them mid way for training etc. But they need to do the allocated amount so some went back on Thursday (gills kids did). Ours went back Friday and some start Monday.

I used to think it was a bad idea to start back on a thu or fri but it makes sense. They're often tired and means they do a day or 2, rest the weekend and start a fresh in Monday. Proper knuckle down stuff cause they've already re settled in.

Im pleased Jack started Thursday as he has settled in nicely over those 2 days. He has next week monday to friday mornings and then the following week he will do full time yay!

Both mine start their new schools tomorrow. Sophie starts reception at St Teresa's and Ashleigh is moving up to senior school and going to Greensward.

Megan was doing 3 mornings a week (Mon/Wed/Fri) before 6 wks hols and from today she'll be doing the five mornings which I know she will LOVE............it's a break for me too.....3 hours a morning, have special time with Maisie.

She goes to Gooseberry Green Preschool part of Hogarth Junior School.

William is going to Hamstel Nursery. He starts properly on the 20th and we have induction starting on Monday 13th.

Will find out more about it when we have our home visit tomorrow.

Really need to get him to try his uniform on!
