Ahh hun id say that they should have called you.
This happened to Jack earlier in the week, I got a call saying he had fallen off the bikes and bumped his head etc. I apreciated the call so I knew. Also I got a note in his book bag too that the incident had been written in the book etc and for my record.
Hope you get it sorted hun. x

william fell over at school and had a nasty bump and was bruised for 4/5 days until it started to disappear but his school rang me straight away and told me about it and said they would keep an eye on him and ring me if they thought he needed to come home.

thanks Gemma the head said there were procedures in place that should have been followed so glad we mentioned it cause it could benefit someone else if another child hurts their head.

Hey,
The school should keep a record of any injuries that come through the medical room, not only for the protection of the child but the staff too (accusations of negligence). Any significant injury to the head is different as there is the risk of concussion/damage (however small that risk) therefore yes parents should be informed and the child should be kept with medical staff and monitored for head aches, drowsiness etc. In more serious cases we have had children sent to hospital to be safe.
Schools have to be (or should be) extra careful about how they deal with injuries to children these days, as accusations are easily made and incomplete records or not keeping parents informed can land them in hot water.
