Re: Itchy!!!
Obstetric cholestasis (OC) is the liver condition described in an earlier post. This is associated with itchy palms and soles of the feet rather than of the legs, and i think it is unlikely to be the cause of your symptoms.(it also now has a new name, but that has escaped me at the monent!!). If it ...

Re: Another Gestational Diabetes Question
Nipple stimulation produces oxytocin release so it is normal to experience an increase in braxtonhicks (oxytocin is responsible for let down reflex in breastfeeding and also for uterine contractions in labour - it basically makes smooth muscle contract). At 37+ weeks I wouldnt be too concerned if yo...

Re: Another Gestational Diabetes Question
Antenatal expressing from 36 weeks is a good idea with diabetes of pregnancy. You might not get much initially, so really wouldn't worry about it too much, quantity will gradually increase. Abd remember baby's tummy is tiny so their initial needs are minimal. A healthy term infant also have brown fa...

Re: Another Gestational Diabetes Question
They usually test by your bed. Is a pin prick test - a bit like the day 5/6 heel prick test, but a much smaller drop. It is put into a test strip which sits in a monitor, reading comes up very quickly - within a matter of seconds x

Re: Getting a transverse baby to move
Never feel silly/ stupid/ worried about bothering them. No query is too small, there is no such thing as a silky question. If something is enough to worry you, then it is important enough for them to take notice of and to help you out with - even if it is just to have a chat over the phone to allay ...

Re: Getting a transverse baby to move
It could definately be that he is trying to move - women who have had babies turn from breech to head down have said that they found it quite uncomfortable - they knew their babies were changing position. You can try lying on your left side or massaging round your abdomen to try and encourage baby t...

Re: High Risk Pregnancy/Birth
It is really unlikely that they will have missed a twin - it does happen, but it's very very rare (in 18 yrs I've never come across anybody who has had a surprise like that, but I have read 1 or 2 stories of women who have. I think it is a comin concern in second pregnancies because you do feel bigg...

Re: Getting a transverse baby to move
I'm sure baby will head (ha! Excuse the pun!) in the right direction. Remember your muscles have been stretched before so baby has more room to move around. All four if mine have been breech / oblique lies between 31-34 weeks (including my first!) & they did all turn head down. Most babies will lie ...

Re: Getting a transverse baby to move
Baby's position at 32 weeks is not indicative of where they'll end up at term, particularly in mums who've had a baby before. Walking is an excellent way to encourage baby to HO head down, as gravity pulls the heaviest part of the baby (it's head!) downwards. www.spinningbabies.com is a brilliant re...

Re: High Risk Pregnancy/Birth
I think they are taking a cautious view - I agree with you re arthritis and it is rhe effect of certain drugs that they are concerned about - however this doesn't affect the birth itself. Depending on the drugs you take, they may recommend additional scans. If your back / pelvis is affected, again t...
