New Midwife Joining Us

#1 Unread post by weezypops » Thu Mar 27, 2014 10:26 pm

You may have noticed that our resident midwife Lorraine hasn't been around for a while. She's been really busy, not least of which with her new Gentle Parenting website!

I'd like to introduce you to our new midwife, Sam Lealman. Sam is an Independent Midwife, Hypnobirth Teacher and Certified Infant Massage Instructor and runs www.babymoon-uk.com

Give her a big welcome and if you have a question, start a new thread in this section!

Hello lovely mummies, daddies and babies, my name is Sam and I have been a midwife for 20 years. I spent the first 18 1/2 working in the NHS. I have rotated into all the areas in the hospital and worked as a community midwife. During this time I have had a strong focus on infant feeding and particularly breastfeeding, (running groups, training peer supporters, working in child health clinics and organising events for breastfeeding awareness week). I have also held a specialist post in public health. Before leaving the NHS to become an Independent Midwife I was the Community Midwifery Team leader for the vulnerable families team. I have been an Independent Midwife since Nov 2011. I currently provide private midwife care to families throughout their pregnancy, birth and postnatal period. This has given me the chance to realise a dream and provide quality care with continuity, flexibility and choice. I also teach Hypnobirthing and Baby Massage. In June 2014 I will be starting my training as a Birthlight Yoga practitioner. I run a free weekly coffee morning in Highams Park, E4 (opposite the new Tesco, so there is plenty of parking). You are welcome to come; pick my brains and meet some other lovely pregnant mummies, babies and their parents. We are at Café Latte, every Wednesday, 09.00-11.30. Most importantly I am mum to two boys aged 17 and 14 and I adore them.
