Natural foundations are a social enterprise based in Essex who are passionate about getting children outside to play.

Studies have shown that playing outside regularly improves children’s health, confidence, risk-awareness, social skills and can also improve their ability to learn. In Scandinavia forest schools – taking the classroom outside – have become a normal part of a child’s schooling.

We are based at Mountnessing Primary School where we run a range of activities for pre-schools and primary schools, as well as holidays clubs during the school holidays. We have a geodesic dome for shelter, but all our activities are designed to take place in all weathers and we provide children with outdoor clothing and all the equipment to enable this to happen safely.

We can tailor your activity timetable to your needs fitting in with your current topics and mapping to the EYFS, Key Stage One or Key Stage Two. We offer both half and full days. You can choose from a range of activities, including:

Our opening times are as follows:

Tuesday: Session 1 10 - 11.30

Session 2 12 - 1.30

Wednesday: Session 1 10 - 11.30

For our usual stay and play sessions, the prices are:

Non Walking Child: £2.50

Walking Child £5

After the first child, each additional child gets a £1 discount on the price.

We also offer a discount for childminders, nannies and au-pairs.

Parents/carers play an active role in each session. This is an ideal opportunity for children and their adults to enjoy quality time while learning together about the environment.

We provide outdoor waterproof clothing so you don’t have to. We suggest that children are dressed warmly with hats and gloves, and appropriate footwear – wellies!

SANTA IN THE WOODS
13, 18, 20, 21, 23 December

Mr and Mrs Christmas will be making their annual visit to The Woodlands at Natural Foundations! They have set up a trail through the woodlands to look for the Christmas fairies and elves. You can decorate a biscuit, toast a marshmallow and make something all crafty!!!

We will also put out our usual activities in the woodland but it is up to the children how they play with them, where they take them to and what they do with them! Anything goes!!
