Meadows thank J’s Hospice for running swap shop
Last month Meadows shopping centre opened its very own Swap-a-Gift shop to encourage shoppers to swap any unwanted Christmas gifts for a gift they really wanted. The Meadows, who worked in partnership with J’s Hospice, made it possible for shoppers to exchange their unwanted presents. Over a 2 week period, shoppers dropped and swapped over 150 unwanted items to the Swap-a-Gift shop. Items included kids toys, jewellery, shoes and items for the home. J’s Hospice volunteers manned the shop for 2 weeks.
The Meadows generosity continued as they presented J’s Hospice with a £300 donation, to thank the volunteers for all their services to the Swap-a-Gift shop and to help the hospice with their work in the local community.
Sue Patel, Meadows Centre Manager, explains: “We have been really pleased with the response of the Swap-A-Gift shop and it wouldn’t have been as successful without the help of a great local charity, J’s Hospice, whose volunteers have been fantastic at looking after the shop. This is just our way of thanking them for all their help and we hope to work with them again in the future.”
Maz Keenan, Community and Events Fundraiser at J’s Hospice, commented “It has been such a brilliant opportunity to be chosen by Meadows shopping centre to take part in the Swap-a-Gift shop. Our volunteers loved every minute of the Swap-a-Gift shop and it gave us the opportunity to drive awareness in the local community.”
