Teachers' Strikes

#1 Unread post by weezypops » Tue Mar 25, 2014 12:20 pm

Is your child's school on strike tomorrow? What are your thoughts about the strikes - do you think they are inconvenient and pointless or necessary to make the teachers' voices heard?

I'm being interviewed on BBC Essex tomorrow morning and would like to share your views.

Ours is open, Mrs Way will do her best to keep school open, as kids education is the most important thing. The Jnrs on the other hand is different half in half out.

Our teacher tries to keep the school open too but I guess it's easier to do on a headteacher's salary than on an NQT's! :D

our school is closed - I think it is inconvient for working parents as at times there isn't enough notice and trying to sort out annual leave to be with your children, or alternative childcare is a nightmare as so many are in the same position, but I think that if they feel that they are not being recognised for the work that they put in to our childrens education then why shouldn't they stand up for themselves.

This is my opinion too Kris. Yes it's inconvenient but that's the point of a strike really! When the government aren't even prepared to discuss their concerns they don't really have another option - it's not like they can just find another employer.

I agree with you too, the teachers have such a hard job especially in Secondary School!! Our Infants is open tomorrow but Tillys Secondary is closed to the lower years.

i think teachers have no other option to rise their voice. i know it's a bit inconvenient for working parents but teachers are also parents of your kids
