Over the past decade, formal child care in the U.K. has steadily become unaffordable for most parents . Recent reports of an online survey of parents in the UK conducted this summer by Mumsnet (in partnership with other parenting and campaigning organizations) revealed some startling numbers.

Of the 2,047 respondents surveyed by Mumsnet, most of whom were women with children under 18, all expressed frustration with the perceived lack of government support for child care costs and affordability and its impact on their lives and livelihoods. This is a very serious issue on which fertility depends. These days it's hard to have a child at all because of health problems. It is very common for women to have ectopic pregnancies or other difficulties. For women it is very important that the government supports them financially
