Hope you don't mind Alice but I split this up into a new topic rather than just on the end of it.

I know a lot of libraries and Sure Start centres do special groups for dads and kids now so they're definitely trying to cater to them more. My husband doesn't really want to go to anything like that though, to be honest. He's out of the house from around 6.30 to 7.30 every weekday and at the weekends just wants to spend time with the kids hanging out, playing games etc - all pretty low key. He's not really interested in the socialising aspect of parent and toddler groups that I think attracts a lot of Mums.

My local childrens centre has a very busy dads and kids session. Infact - I think they do several....... I seem to remember reading a lunch with dads group aswell as the normal dad/toddler group?

I am actually always quite surprised when we go to Kids Kingdom (Local Indoor play) that there is often more men there with their children than there are women. Also Sunday mornings at the park - sometimes I am the only woman there. I think men find it harder to just spark up a conversation with a stranger - whereas mums just mention their child, or the stranger's child's pretty dress or something and get chatting.

No, Kester's the same. He's friendly and charismatic and gets on with most people but has absolutely no desire to get to know other dads in the same way I do. He likes it when someone he gets to know and is friendly with is also a Dad, so it's not like he's anti-dad friends, he just doesn't want to go out with the specific goal of making dad friends.

Tom used to go to the one at Temple Sutton for the fry up lol

Megaplay in Rayleigh do a saturday Dad and Kids thing 10.30 - 1.30 - Tom is quite social, and would take the kids - though he has only really got into this as they have got older

Not really Pauls thing either, he'd rather do things as a family - not that it bothers him to be just with the kids, but its what he prefers. He does go to things with me like birthday parties / meet ups etc.. and occasionally chats to other men.

I know alot of Sure start nurseries do daddy stay and play sessions with breakfast inlcuded in the price. Theres one in Shoebury where the James Duddridge (MP for Rochford) would go with his son - not sure if he still does??
