Parent Information Sessions: 'Developing Pre-Writing Skills' or 'Developing Scissor Skills'.

As a parent it is often difficult to know how to encourage your child to develop essential skills. At the Get Ready Club we believe that working on underlying skills in preparation for a child’s next step is very important. For example, giving a 3 year old opportunities to work on hand strength and fin
e motor coordination is important when starting to think about developing pencil skills.

Information sessions are relaxed sessions aimed at parents who would like to know more about what they can do to help their child develop skills for life. Topics are flexible to meet the needs of attendees but can

What’s On in 2013

Tuesday 26th February, 9.45-11am
Developing Scissor Skills

A summary of the many skills required for using scissors confidently. Plently of activity ideas will be provided and all participants will take home a pack containing worksheets and a pair of children’s scissors. This session is aimed at parents of children aged up to 8 years old but may also be useful to parents of older children who are finding using scissors difficult.


Wednesday 6th March, 9.45-11am
Developing Pre-Writing Skills

Find out more about the skills your child will need to begin to use a pencil with confidence. A look at the motor skills used when writing and provision of plenty of ideas for practice. This session is aimed at parents of children under five but may also be of use to parents whose children are older but are struggling with pencil skills.

Parent information sessions cost £20 per adult and will be held at Knights Way Centre, Knights Way, Ingrave. Ideally, adults will attend without children but there will be a small space for chidren to play if this is not possible.
