Purple Goat Theatre is embarking on one of the most ambitious projects to hit Southend-on-Sea. Starting 8th August 2011, the company will work with 15 young disabled people and 50 children from local schools to rehearse and perform the much-loved children’s story, Pinocchio.

The unique twist of the project is the timescale. Purple Goat Theatre has intentionally given itself one week from start to finish. The children will have less than 30 hours to rehearse, learn lines, make puppets and perform the show at the Cliffs Pavilion Theatre on 15th august 2011.

With numerous organisations involved, including theatres, schools, charities and local businesses, Purple Goat Theatre will reach out to hundreds of young people in the Southend area. To help create the set of the show we have contacted 7 local schools in the Southend area and asked for their support. Children from each year will draw an image with Pinocchio as a stimulus. Once these have been completed we will collect and assemble the artwork to create a collage to be used as the backdrop for the show.
A large percentage of the ticket sales will help towards creating more art-based programmes in Southend-on-Sea for more young people to benefit from.

Purple Goat Theatre is now on the look out for young talent of all ability to take part in the show.
If this is your first theatre experience or you are a regular, the show will be a unique and spectacular event that is a must see. Tickets are on sale now for the one off performance on Monday 15th August at 7.30pm.
If you want to be involved in the project please contact Purple Goat Theatre, participation for all involved is free of charge.
