sparkling mineral water
Hi,
Im really thirsty at the mo, and Im craving sparkling water and drinking bottles of it. Anyways my mum came round today and she said its very dangerous as the minerals are unbalanced. Ive never heard of this, and they all say they are suitable for low sodium diets. Plus on the secret millionare last week the rich lady was pg and she only drank mineral water and she seemed fine.
So I just wondered really! xxx

i can't see why it wouldn't be fine? and never heard of this before? and read all the bounty/emmas diary books etc!
i might be wrong tho? maybe she is confused with not being able to give a baby bottled water? you have to use cooled boiled water?

Re: sparkling mineral water
Bottled water is absolutely fine for pregnant women to drink, sparkling or otherwise.
Your mum may have been confusing this with advice re making up formula feeds when abroad - you shouldn't use tap water as the mineral balance can upset their tummies, but you also need to check that the bottled water you use has a low mineral content and sodium level (na of less than 200). Volvic and Evian are two brands that are fine to use for making up formula feeds abroad. Xx

Re: sparkling mineral water
Yep, advice includes not using tap water, even when boiled.
Using bottled water, still boil it as formula powder won't dissolve in cold / lukewarm water. Alternatively, take ready made cartons (tho they do take up valuable clothes and shoe space in your luggage!)

Thank you! I did think it sounded a bit silly as I hadnt heard any warnings before, also my sister went on 2 holidays while pg and must have had bottled water the whole time. I remember when we took millie on holiday when she was a baby, and worrying a lot about sodium contents! XX
