could i be pregnant and...
Could i still be pregnant and still have periods?
I have been on yasmin pill for last 6 months and periods started fine then got really heavy and then lighter, other symptoms i have had are cramping. Lower back ache, tiredness, constant need for the toilet a little nausea not much but never suffered from morn sickness during last two pregs, weight gain and uncomfortable ness when trying to sleep on front or at times on my side. With my first my IBS played up alot in early stages and is now and with both got heartburn which i get from time to time.
I'm scared to take a pregnancy test as not sure how will react either way. I'm not saying i don't want to be preg i quite like it but am worring how would cope both financially and the fact that i have a higher risk of having twins again.
Any advice will be taken on board thanks.

Certainly sounds like it and I knwo lots of women keep getting periods when they are pregnant. Would be better to take the test and know for sure rather than keep worrying yourself surely?

I agree with Claire and Gemma, it's better to test so that you know for sure and either stop worrying or work out what you want.
Re: could i be pregnant and...
My friend was 6 months pregnant before she realised so it is possible to still have periods when pregnant. Not sure whether the type of pill makes a difference.
If it were me - I would take a test just incase!

As the others have said - the only way you'll know and put your mind at ease is to test!! Often stress and worry about being pregnant can affect periods, sleeps and can affect you and make you think your pregnant and start showing false symptoms.
Hope you get the result you want

Thanks Gemma
Did test and was negative. I'm a bit gutted really, Darren on the other hand was over the moon. We have since had words and he understands why i was upset, the way i see it is while i'm home and looking after the boys if it happens it happens. coz once boys all at school i'm hoping to go back to work and don't really want to start again IYKWIM.
Not sure why am feeling the way i am so have made a docs appointment for mon hopefully get some answers.

Re: could i be pregnant and...
Sometimes contraceptive pills can give you symptoms similar to those you get when preg, as they are mimicking pregnancy hormones fluctuations (minus hcg, which us produced ink when preg and detected by preg tests). In this way the pill "fools" the body into thinking it is already preg and stops the fertile cycle from occurring, but is also why sometimes preg symptoms, such as nausea, breast tenderness etc sometimes develop when taking the pill. The bleed you have with pills is as a withdrawal from the hormone levels, and not a "true" period as such, but most women find it reassuring to have a bleed once a month, so they can see they are not preg. It is unusual to continue with regular monthly bleeds throughout pregnancy, but not totally unheard of. However, if you take your pill regularly, as prescribed without missing any and take extra precautions when needed (if you have sickness, diarrhoea or are on some types of antibiotics for example) then you are highly unlikely to become pregnant whilst taking it.
Hope this helps, and is good that now you and hubby are talking about your feelings regarding future family.
