Gymnastics is a sport involving performance of exercises requiring physical strength, flexibility, agility, coordination, and balance. Gymnastics evolved from exercises used by the ancient Greeks, that included skills for mounting and dismounting a horse, and from circus performance skills.

Other gymnastic sports include rhythmic gymnastics, the various trampolining sports, aerobic and acrobatic gymnastics.

Participants can include children as young as two years old doing kindergym and children's gymnastics, recreational gymnasts of ages 5 and up, competitive gymnasts at varying levels of skill, and world class athletes.

Intermediate Gymnastics
By invitation only

The Intermediate classes are for gymnasts who will join our Competition squads at club and regional levels and may train between 2 and 10.5hrs per week.

Freestyle Gymnastics
For those interested in a less structured approach, Colchester School of Gymnastics runs a Freestyle Gymnastics session. This is a mixture of Parkour, Free Running and involves the use of adapted gymnastics skills.

The class will be unstructured allowing participants the freedom to practice their tricks and skills in a safe environment. For those that have never tried Freestyle Gymnastics, an introduction is given to make participants know how to take part safely. Coaches are always on hand to offer help and advice whenever needed.

Whatever your level of experience or fitness, freestyle gymnastics is fun, good exercise and a great way to try out new things!

We run holiday classes during every school holiday and half term. The only exception to this is the Christmas holidays where we shut down for two weeks. We will always follow the holiday timetable as set out by the Essex County Council.

We try to run a variety of classes to try to cater for complete beginners and also give the gymnasts already in our classes the opportunity to try something new.

These classes need to be pre booked. Keep an eye out on our homepage and Blog for details of our Holiday classes.
