Autism friendly film screenings at Odeon

#1 Unread post by Gina73 » Tue Aug 07, 2012 4:48 pm

Whilst doing the Learning Disability newsletter at work, I came across this and thought I would share. Louise, if this is not in the right area please feel free to move to the correct place.

What makes the screenings autism friendly?

ODEON Autism Friendly Screenings are designed to make the cinema experience more accessible to guests who might find mainstream screenings challenging. The screenings are run in partnership with learning disability and autism support provider Dimensions.

These alternative screenings are recommended to anyone who might benefit from the subtle alterations made to the auditorium environment. Films are screened with the lights turned up, the volume turned down, and with the trailers and adverts removed. People can feel free to move around the cinema or make a noise as they feel comfortable. Guests are reminded not to run inside the cinema and children should be supervised at all times.

The next showing at Southend Odeon is Animated adventure sequel The Lorax (U, 2D) on Sunday 12th August, 11:30am.

The September screening is September's film is Brave (2D) on Sunday 16th September.
