Seedlings (Age 12months - 24months)
MONDAYS - Our sessions takes place within Abberton Manor Care Home, Layer Road, Abberton, Colchester, Essex, CO5 7NL.
As you drive into the manor take the right fork heading towards the grange, the car park is on the left as you look left.

FRIDAYS - Our sessions take place within Chalkney Woods, Tey Road, Earls Colne, CO6
Turn at the sharp bend, drive down a long dirt track and there is a large car park at the end.

***Please follow the muddy boots signs***

This group aims to provide time and space in the week for parents and children to step back from their busy lives, to reflect and interact with the world at nature's pace – slow and steady. Whilst we always bring activity ideas along each week, the group is very much child-led, and often goes in different directions! Whether your little one is up for some crafts or burning off some energy climbing and digging or using the mud kitchen they'll have a great time. The group also brings together a fun, friendly and caring group of parents, who seem to enjoy the activities and social as much as the children!

What’s Involved
We’ll be outside in the woods getting hands on with activities, environmental art and muddy play. The content is very much child-led and so could go in lots of different directions, which is part of the fun of it all!

Weather
There is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing! Our sessions will go ahead in all but the most extreme weathers, so if it’s just a bit drizzly or a little windy on the day please dress for the occasion and come on down! We have shelters we can use if necessary.

We also suggest you bring the following with you:
•A complete change of clothes & shoes for the journey home
•Plastic bag for dirty kit

Woodland Adventure Party (Age 3-11years)
Outdoor Birthday Parties

Looking for a different kind of birthday party? Then look no further! Bring your little ones down to our beautiful woodland for a natural celebration like no other. Our parties follow the Forest School ethos of being child-led events, and we pride ourselves on our ability to react and adapt to the group’s desires and energy levels, along with the weather. This means that no two parties are ever the same, and ensures that each party is fully tailored to meet the whole group’s needs. A great time is always had by all (including the parents that stay!).

We like to include a mix of high-energy games and calmer crafts in our parties, giving the event a lovely rhythm and ensuring that guests leave tired and enthused! The most popular activities include den building, woodland crafts and games (such as Bug Hunting and Capture the Flag). However, we are able to incorporate most woodland related requests into the party, so please do let us know if the birthday child has any!

Invitations, marshmallows and a woodland gift for the birthday child are included. If you want hosts are welcome to bring pre-cooked sausages, bread rolls and squirty ketchup. We can then sizzle the sausages up on the camp fire and serve them around it. It keeps it very simple and is always very popular – and no need for paper plates even!

Prices
£12.50 per child (minimum of 15 children/ maximum of 25 children)
Please note that all our parties last for 2hours and take place 10am - Noon on Saturday mornings.

Other useful info for outdoor birthday parties
•For children over 5 years old, one adult is required to remain with the group for every 6 children – adults always end up enjoying themselves as much as the children! For all children under 5 years old we would expect the parent to stay with your child.
•All birthday parties are facilitated by an experienced forest school leader

**The party will take place at our magical woodland in the grounds of Abberton Manor, Layer Road, Colchester*
