Theatre of Science live!

#1 Unread post by Lucyinthesky » Fri Mar 27, 2020 11:49 am

Free Science Lesson (4-11yrs)

TUESDAYS AT 13:30

https://www.facebook.com/theatreofscience/

I'm a physics teacher/science communicator with, unsurprisingly, not much on at the moment. So here's the second in my series of free 'lockdown' lessons. (Here's the first one, 'Rainbows' https:/www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekHqp3Z-6EY It would be very helpful if you subscribed! Thanks everyone who fed back. This one will be loud and in landscape!).

Be on the Theatre of Science Facebook page (Not at the event page), click into videos, and you will see me live streaming at 1.30pm on Tuesday 31st March.

please check the facebook page to see what materials you will need if you wish to join in with the demonstrations.

Let's chat about Mars!* If you're new, we're the Science Alliance; we meet every day during lockdown and do activities, ask questions, look stuff up together and have fun. We're having a week off for half term but this is an emergency one-off because at about 7.15pm on 18th Feb NASA are landing a rover on Mars! NOTE WE'LL START AT MIDDAY not the usual 1.30.
Just come to my Facebook page and I'll be there! I go live a few minutes early so you have chance to find it. If you click 'coming' you'll get an alert.
*There are actually THREE space craft arriving at Mars this month! China's Tianwen-1 orbiter/rover arrives any day and has already taken a stunning photo (https://www.space.com/china-tianwen-1-m ... first-mars...), and the United Arab Emirate's Hope Orbiter arrives on Tuesday. Read more about it and watch the arrival live here https://www.emiratesmarsmission.ae/ This last one is particularly pleasing as the UAE has a much higher proportion of women working in engineering. Unfortunately they're arriving on the day of my Home Ed lesson (rude) so we're marking the NASA date instead.
I'm a secondary physics teacher who started doing science shows in first lockdown and am still going! Won awards and everything! I also run a home-ed class for under 14s and am doing something everyday during this lockdown; see my events page for details.
FAQ: Why are you doing this for free?!
A large and wonderful proportion of the audience are supporting me via a website called Patreon. I send them a bimonthly magazine to say thank you. Details here: https://www.patreon.com/theatreofscience
