Rainbow Rural, High Easter Road, Barnston, Dunmow

Rainbow Rural Centre (Gt Dunmow) C.I.C. (Community Interest Company) is designed to provide acres of fun and learning on the farm. Rainbow Rural centre started in 2010, with the vision to design and support disabled, disadvantaged and vunerable people have good access to our Organic working farm.

Whilst at Rainbow Rural, children and adults are given the opportunity to learn about our local countryside and the animals that co-exist here. We encourage people to interact with the animals whether it’s just being close to them, feeding them, or working with them. We have found that working outdoors, whether with animals or gardening is very beneficial to our visitors. As a registered Care Farm we can support safe, supported access to the centre.

We are passionate about working with nature and making our organic farm accessible, so that everyone who wants to visit a Care Farm can do. We have experienced staff who can demonstrate rural skills, such as: gardening, conservation, woodwork, horse and animal care, agricultural and horticultural skills and much more, and have knowledge of working and supporting children and adults with additional needs.

Rainbow Rural is usually open all year. We can take booking and talk about your requirements through Our bookings office. We plan Farm Clubs, and special term time holiday clubs for children. Please let us know how we can help.

Bucket Walk (New)

While all indoor clubs are closed would you like to come for a lovely walk on our Care Farm? There’s minimal contact with other people because we’ve got lots of space to enjoy.

For a donation of £10.00 well give you a bucket of food to give to the sheep and a bucket of bird food for the wild birds.

Pre-booking is essential, so please drop us an email and we’ll send you details and a map. The farm walk follows a circular route which will occupy you for upwards of an hour.

Bucket Walk

During lock-down we still wanted to offer an activity on the farm. This is brilliant for a parent or guardian to lead their child around a rural environment. You're given two buckets of feed per purchase, with a map of the route around the farm.

This service is available to all, but you need to book before arrival (preferably with over a days notice).
