This October half term your adventure starts with us - explore the reserve and have a fabulous family adventure.

Explore the reserve with our wildlife trail - can you solve the clues and be a wild explorer? Activity packs will help you explore the reserve - these include a trail sheet and explorer bag to borrow so you are all ready for your adventure. Activity packs cost £3.50 and is available all through the holidays, just turn up and ask at reception.

Get yourself ready by enjoying lunch in our cafe, grab something to take with you as a picnic, or warm up after your adventure.

Pop into our shop - not only can you buy some wonderful things for the wildlife in your garden, you can find books, gifts and even some things to help you on your adventure like a mini-beasting kit, binoculars or bird book.
If you are looking for a pair of binoculars our optics experts will be onsite every weekend to answer any questions and show you some of our wonderful range

Rainham Marshes is currently open 9.30 am - 5pm every day. Facilities include: car park, shop, cafe, toilets, accessible pathways, 2.4 miles of trails, bicycle hire. Please note: dogs, scooters, and bicycles are allowed on the River Wall section of the reserve, but not the main trails. We hire bicycles for you to explore the River Wall, please ask at reception.

Enjoy lunch in our cafe, Dad’s go free on the reserve, join the Wildlife Walk to discover nature at Rainham Marshes, and buy a special gift from our shop!

Delight Dad to a new pair of binoculars (our optics experts will be around to help you), or pick up a fabulous book, or buy something for his garden.

RSPB's Big Picnic

Saturday 28th May - Sunday 5th June
9.30am - 5pm each day

From blooming wildflowers to dazzling dragonflies there’s so much to enjoy in nature at this time of year, and with a long bank holiday weekend on the cards in June it’s the perfect excuse to gather your family for a good, old-fashioned picnic.
We’re holding Big Picnic events at more than 20 of our nature reserves on 2, 3, 4 and 5 June, so whether you’d prefer to relax in the dappled shade of our woodland or take in spectacular views of the Thames from the River Wall, there are plenty of places to tempt you. Some of our reserves will be extending the celebrations into the weeks before and after the bank holiday too.
PIck up a ready made individual eco-friendly picnic lunch box from our Café for £4.50 and head off to a beautiful spot to enjoy just remember to #leavenotrace once you've enjoyed your delicious picnic.
With our special Wildlife Detective activity packs (just £3.50), young explorers will be able to join Detective Hoot and Constable Crumb to solve an intriguing mystery, while learning how make picnics as wildlife friendly as possible.
There will be marked trails to follow, fun family activities and even selfie stations too, so what are you waiting for? Start planning your family’s adventure today!
