Join us over the Easter holidays and learn more about how life begins with the humble egg.

Receive a fun worksheet when you arrive and start discovering fascinating facts. While you are visiting, you can also see nature up close with our microscope, enjoy the displays of local wildlife and the exhibits in the museum.

Pips Treasure Hunt – Southend

1st – 16th April

Launching at 9.00am on Saturday 1st April and ending at 6:00pm on Sunday 16th April, Pip’s Treasure Hunt aims to encourage families with young children across Southend to get outdoors and enjoy spending time locating Pip’s treasures!

The treasure hunt can be downloaded onto phones ahead of setting off (no data required once installed) where the GPS signals pick up points once small tasks have been completed at locations.

Woodland Animals Digital Easter Egg Trail – Great Notley Country Park

1st – 16th April

The cheeky woodland animals have hidden our eggs in Great Notley Country Park, follow the trail and see if you can find them. There are seven to discover. You will find Boris Badger, Ollie Owl, Freddie Frog, Sammie Squirrel, Heidi Hedgehog, Dilly Deer and Rachel Rabbit.

Folk & Bespoke Craft Fair – Upminster

1st April

For a shopping and gift experience like no other and a chance to connect and meet the creatives behind the designs with 30+ creatives – Artisan Craft Fair on Saturday 1st April, 10am-3pm, free entry, at New Windmill Hall, St. Mary’s Lane, Upminster, RM14 2QH.

CFY Easter Egg Hunt – Chelmsford

3rd – 16th April

Once again the Easter Bunny is heading back to hide some of their beautiful Easter Eggs on the windows on a number of our brilliant city centre businesses. There’s just one problem, we don’t know how many there’ll be!!

The Easter eggs will be drawn in the windows of a number of businesses across the city including the High Street, Springfield Road, Baddow Road, Tindal Street, Bond Street, High Chelmer, the Meadows and Duke Street. 

Play in the Park – Chelmsford

14 different sessions

Play in the Park (PitP) is a series of free, two-hour multi-activity sessions run for children at community and parish venues.

Children can join our playworkers to play, create and take part in fun sports, games and craft activities at a park near you. Some sessions also feature additional activities such as inflatables, reptile handling and scooter lessons. 

Sessions are suitable for everyone, including those with accessible needs.

Easter eggs-travaganza – Southend

Set within the grounds of a Grade I Listed Medieval moated house built around1321 – 1364 (with extensions in the Tudor period and 1930s). SHIP are pleased to invite you to an Easter Egg-stravaganzer with fun for all the family including:

Meet Easter Farm Babies at Scott’s of Southend

A range of adorable farm animals will be visiting Scotts of Southend for 3 days over the Easter weekend. 

You can come to see lambs, chicks, ducklings, goats, ponies, rabbits and more for FREE.

Simply just turn up during our usual opening hours of 9am-5pm.

A fun Easter experience for local families. During the day we will have an Easter Egg hunt along the street, arts and crafts in the office, face painting in front of the hub at 11.30 we will be visited by 30+ bikers on their huge range of motorcycles. They will be having a show session where children can sit on their bikes for photographs etc…. and of course a chance to have your photo taken with Mr Flopsey the Easter Bunny!!!

A Victorian Easter Children’s Tour – Southend

A fun and engaging look back into our Victorian past, focused on Easter practices and how they influenced the way we celebrate today. Find out why we have Easter eggs and bunnies, then join us for some craft activities and a delicious hot cross bun.

This tour will take place in the Prittlewell Priory and will last for around 30 minutes. Tickets must be pre-booked. Each ticket includes a free hot drink and hot cross bun, as well as the craft activity after the tour.

Mousechurch Hall – Southend

Read the story, find the mice, and solve the mystery of Mousechurch Hall. 

This trail is available daily during regular opening hours between 1st April – 16th April 2023, 11am – 4pm. Please note Southchurch Hall is closed on the 7th, 8th and 9th April for the holidays, but will be open on Monday 10th April. Each trail is £2.50 including a pencil.

Easter Adventures Egg Hunt at Bourne Mill – Colchester

7th – 10th April

£3 per child

Make your way along the trail to find fun and adventurous activities for the whole family. So come along and explore the beautiful grounds of Bourne Mill. Entry to the mill and grounds is free. The price of the egg hunt is £3 per child and includes a trail guide, bunny ears, pencil and a chocolate egg. There will also be story telling and/or crafts for children, second hand bookshop, and refreshments.

Jolly Jester Trail – Colchester Castle

Try and beat the Castle’s newest team member, the Jolly Jester, by taking part in their activity trail! Get ready to giggle and have a go at solving their riddles. From Roman donkey hats to finding out more about medieval Jesters, this fun and interactive trail will lead to a wonderful prize at the end for those who complete it! Booking is not required for this event, simply ask for a trail on arrival.
