Last week we visited Woodstock Farm in Cold Norton during their easter Lambing Live event. They have events year-round where the kids can have the mini-farmer experience and depending on the season the activities change which makes it a great option to return to a few times!
Lambing Live was the perfect easter event for animal lovers. The kids can get up close and personal with the animals which includes feeding the animals, cuddling the lambs (see cute photos!), stroking the chicks, cuddling bunnies and of course the opportunity to meet the big man himself….the Easter bunny. The farm encourages the kid to get a hands-on experience of mini farming which includes being able to bottle feed the lambs, hand feed the sheep and brush/groom the ponies.
We took advantage of the opportunity to ride and groom a pony – this is something that’s available at other times of the year and is always a hit with the kids that love ponies. Be prepared for a short queue, although it goes quickly. The staff leading the pony rides were really friendly and patient with the kids and answered all their questions.
The farm was very popular when we visited but that didn’t effect our experience – no long queues and we were able to see everything comfortably within the 3hrs.
The opportunity to visit the farm animals and interact with them is definitely the main reason to go there but the farm also has a great play area and during easter they also had bouncy castles – a big hit with the kids. If you want to stay for lunch there are picnic benches outside and you’re welcome to bring your own picnic with you, for hot drinks you can pop into the farm shop.
Speaking of the farm shop, as well as hot drinks, inside they had an area for arts & crafts and a great selection of local produce available to buy. The farm layout makes the activities accessible for all, including prams. The toilet onsite is a portaloo but fear not, it was nice and clean.
The event was a 3 hour hands-on experience and tickets had to be booked in advance, the sessions work this way throughout the year and you can find more information on their Facebook page about upcoming events.
