The All-Inclusive Experience
One of the standout aspects of our day at Chelmsford City Racecourse was the inclusive experience. Once you’re inside, everything (other than food) is included in the entry fee. This was an absolute winner, particularly considering children enter for free! Yes, it did result in the activities being somewhat crowded, but don’t let that put you off. We managed to have a go at everything we had set our hearts on, and the wait times were bearable. Trust me, with all that’s on offer, a little wait here and there won’t dampen your spirits.
Horse Races & Farm Animals
The horse races were a real treat. We took great pleasure in watching both the adorable Shetland pony race and the thrilling main races. A special mention must go to the cool-down session after the races our little one was utterly entranced by the sight of the majestic horses cooling down. But the day offered more than just horse races. We were fortunate enough to see some of the animals from Stantons Farm, which is another place we’re itching to visit soon. The kids were thrilled, and it added an unexpected surprise to our day.
Entertainment Zone
Face painting is a staple at any children’s event, but this takes it to a whole new level. Despite the long queue, she was patient and meticulous, taking her time with each child and creating mini masterpieces. The kids were over the moon, and it was definitely worth the wait. The Entertainment Zone was a treasure trove of activities, with football tables, a bucking bronco, a ‘roll the ball’ horse racing game, a scaletrixc track and more. What’s more, there was a fantastic DJ, who kept the atmosphere vibrant and energetic. His upbeat tunes certainly made the queuing time fly by.
Indulge in Sweet Treats
We decided to give the food queues a miss as they were quite long. However, we couldn’t resist the candy floss – an absolute bargain at just £2.50! The kids loved it, and it added a sweet touch to our fun-filled day.
Appreciate the Thoughtful Organisation
The day was impressively well-organised. There was ample free parking at the racecourse, which was a godsend. Despite the crowds, parking was a breeze with plenty of marshalls directing traffic. And let’s not forget the toilets – there were plenty, so no queuing was necessary. It’s these practicalities that can really make or break a day out, and Chelmsford City Racecourse had it all covered. In summary, we had an absolutely fantastic day out and would wholeheartedly recommend their family fun days to others.
