Not your typical theatre show, ‘twas the night before Christmas takes you ‘behind the scenes’ of the theatre to snuggle down on a rug and share 45 minutes in a 1950’s bedroom of a boy called Sam. Sam is getting ready for Christmas and shares his excitement with us through an interactive story-telling of what happened to Sam on the night before Christmas one year.
My 3 year old found Sam’s preparations for Christmas a little frantic which made her a bit anxious at the start – she had also never heard of Saint Nick so wasn’t sure what was going on! Once she got into it she was happily calling out to Sam as he interacted with the children.
The length of the show at 45 minutes was spot on and after the show Sam comes back in to have a chat with all the children, which they seemed to enjoy. Perhaps a nice alternative to the loud Panto-type Christmas shows.
‘ runs until December 23rd at Queens Theatre, Hornchurch. For more information and to book, visit www.queens-theatre.co.uk/whats-on/show/twas-the-night-before-christmas-3/
