The Dessert Chef – Cupcakes

I had a welcome delivery one evening a couple of weeks ago, 16 beautiful looking cupcakes in 4 flavours; vanilla ice cream style with a flake, cherry with butterfly detail, malteser & coconut with flower detail. The presentation was beautiful, they looked stunning.

Of course I had two very willing tasters as soon as the Dessert Chef lady left – my 9 & 6 year old! A malteser & an ice cream style was selected & off they went to taste test. My daughter declared the malteser the best cupcake she’s every tasted, she isn’t a fan of the now hugely popular buttercream topped cupcakes, however The Dessert Chef’s icing was a light silky  version so she was more than pleased. My son enjoyed his very much too, was most impressed with a flake in a cake!

I tried the coconut & my husband got what was left flavour wise – cherry. He didn’t complain too much as he has a malteser one straight after! I thought the coconut one was gorgeous, very light & the coconut on top was a lovely added extra. Hubby enjoyed his but admitted he preferred the more traditional buttercream icing if he was honest. He asked if Dessert Chef offers both.

The Dessert Chef website states  quote “Our mission is to provide you with the freshest & most indulgent food – No Preservatives & No Additives (Just good food – made with the freshest ingredients)” which is a bonus if prospective customers were wanting to order some for their children’s parties & are worried about nasties in food.

I think many children would prefer the lighter frosting that The Dessert Chef offer, too often I have seen children at parties lick the buttercream icing on a beautiful cupcake then hand it back to their mummy or daddy as it can be too rich. For us adults though, I think being able to choose between this frosting & the more indulgent buttercream would be preferable. It may already be available but I couldn’t find out the information from the website.

The Dessert Chef – Cheesecake

We had a lovely white chocolate and vanilla cheesecake from the Dessert Chef and I would have to give this dessert 10/10 for presentation, it looked absolutely fantastic. It was a very big cheesecake with a lovely biscuit base and a very generous cheesecake filling and the top was a white chocolate top with fresh cream whirls round the outside and large white chocolate buttons on each swirl. The top was drizzled with milk chocolate.

I couldn’t wait to try a piece and I have to say I was not disappointed at all, it really tasted as good as it looked. The biscuit base was lovely, tasted like lots of digestive biscuits and was very moreish. The cheesecake filling itself was lovely, it is very hard to describe it but there was a lovely vanilla flavour, you could see the vanilla seeds within the filling but the flavour was not too overpowering it was just enough. The top was just as nice and tasty although my 4 year old son insisted on pinching everyone’s chocolate buttons. If anyone is having a dinner party or just a party I would have no hesitation in recommending The Dessert Chef or their cheesecakes and desserts they look and taste delicious.

The cheesecake was tried by 6 members of my family and everyone enjoyed it and there not a crumb left in the box, which says it all I think.
