Outstanding Group/Class Leader

WINNER: AMI ANDERS, QUACKERS

A Local Mum, Scottish born Ami’s desire for the stage began at the tender age of 3. At the age of 7 Ami played the part of Tessie in the national tour of the musical ‘Annie’ gaining her Equity membership at a very young age.

She attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School full time for 5 years and graduated with “The Most Promising Musical Student” award. Whilst at the school her television appearances and stage performances were varied.

Ami’s career went in several directions after leaving Sylvia’s. She spent time on the Cabaret circuit developing her unique style. Ami took a slight change in direction when she began writing, arranging and performing with a Rock/Pop band ‘COAST’ performing in some of London’s more eclectic venues, whilst continuing her stage work doing fringe performances.

Ami had a 5 year residency on Dinner Cruise boats on the RiverThames singing a Classic Jazz and Dance repertoire.

For the last 12 years she has been performing across the Country as the only female civilian singer for the British Army Bands. Namely the ‘Household Divisions Big Band’, ‘The Grenadier Guards Big Band’, ‘The Welsh Guards Dance Band’ and ‘The Army Big Band’. With these brilliant bands, she has been lucky to perform with some of the best musicians in the British Army at some amazing venues. Including performing at Windsor Castle with the Grenadier Guards Big Band in the presence of HRH The Queen and HRH Prince Philip. She was also thrilled to perform at 10 Downing Street for the then Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Locally, Ami has received top billing when appearing as the solo vocalist at a series of sell out Help-for-Heroes concerts held at the Cliffs Pavillion,Southend. In the run up to these Ami was invited into Southend Radio for an interview with Tracey Cooper on her Sunday Show.

Ami is thrilled to successfully bring Quackers to local Events held throughout Leigh and for the Community Centre and Leigh Town Council and hopes to do more local events in the future.

She continues to perform under her Maiden name Ami Anders.

Highly Recommended: Carly Bangs, Moo Music

Hello! I’m Carly owner of Moo Music Chelmsford, I’m Mum to 7 year old old Etta-Mae and 5 year old Brodie. I’ve been running Moo Music for over 6 years now and love it. I studied Dance at university and went on to work at Brighton Dome and Festival handling the Marketing side of things. Since having my little girl I wanted a job that could fit around her and wanted to get back to my love of music and dance so when I found Moo it was the perfect fit. I get to meet lots of get babies, children and their parents and we all have fun singing, dancing and playing – what more could you ask for in a job!

Cake Club is a parenting support and playgroup, run by parent volunteers and a range of professionals, including a midwife, antenatal teachers, infant feeding supporters, babywearing consultant, peer supporters, and more. With tea, coffee and CAKE, obviously. Originally running just one session a week in a single location, we now span seven venues and run between 6-9 groups a week across the Southend area (including Rochford and Canvey), as well as occasional Walk & Talks and “Cake Club in the Park” sessions. We also run a thriving Facebook group offering evidence-based support and an abundance of parenting solidarity.
