Based in the former Manor Street School building since 1993, Braintree District Museum conserves and celebrates the history of Braintree and its surrounding areas, focusing on the District’s industrial and cultural achievements and its many notable personalities.
The Museum is a fun, educational and hands-on space for the whole family to enjoy.
We have trails and activities throughout the Museum from an archeology sand pit to book baskets and dressing up, there is something for every age.
During the school holidays we run themed activities every day (Tuesday to Friday). These popular activities are created and run by our inspirational education team and are a great couple of hours for kids to be creative, meet new friend and at the end of the session get to take their creations home.
