Chelmsford City Council has launched a range of holistic based – wellness programmes for pre and post-natal mums at Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre, Chelmsford.
The courses have been devised in conjunction with leading pre and post-natal health coach, Claire Johnson, to offer new mums and mums-to-be specialist advice on fitness and nutrition. She explains: “The courses have been created to cover both nutrition and fitness to support mums in having a healthy pregnancy that is nourishing for themselves and baby as well as supporting them through the post-natal period too.”
The courses include:
Pre Natal Group Coaching – this covers all aspects of nutrition and exercise adaptations for each trimester, stress reduction, coaching through common concerns plus any individual issues (Tuesdays, 7.45-8.30pm).
Post Baby Group – for mums returning to exercise after doctor’s clearance with a core and pelvic floor focus that allows mums to return to their regular classes without feeling intimidated (Wednesdays, 11-11.-45am).
Pregnancy Relaxation – stretching and mobility to ease the aches and pains of pregnancy plus relaxation and meditation to allow connection with bump (Thursdays, 7.15-8pm).
Aqua Natal Group – with instructor Liz Frostik – relax in the comfort of the water and stretch and move with a series of exercises specially created for mums-to-be (Wednesday’s 7.30-8.30pm).
Chelmsford City Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure, Julia Jeapes, is passionate about improving the city’s health and fitness. She says: “These special courses for new mums and mums-to-be offer something very different and will really help support women in the city at a very special time in their lives.”
