A unique project about urban forests, woodlands and parks launched in Essex last month and we wanted to let you know how you can still get involved. ?
‘Your Forest’ brings together a network of radio stations across the country to broadcast a special series looking at the importance of trees and woodlands in and around our towns and cities.
The team behind the project have also created a soundmap for this area where you can submit a short recording from your own woodland, forest or park and get a pin on the map. It’s really easy to do and a nice activity for children to get involved in as well.
Please have a look at the website for more info about the series and how to submit your 1 minute recording. (https://wildrumpus.org.uk/your-forest-project/)
And in the next phase – which has just launched – 3 uk artists are busy listening to the sounds on the map and creating pieces of music or poetry inspired by the ‘Your Forest’ Project.
It means that your recording could feature in a song or be the inspiration for a poem!
