7-11 September, 10am-1pm and 5pm-8pm
ACL Essex (Adult Community Learning) is welcoming adult learners back into the classroom with a series of open days at its centres across the county from the 7-11 September, 10am-1pm and 5pm-8pm.
Centres in Basildon, Brentwood, Clacton, Colchester and Witham will open their doors to showcase their latest range of courses, and with hundreds of subjects on offer and over 1500 courses being delivered either in a classroom, online or hybrid setting, there’s definitely something for everyone.
Course leaders will be available at each venue to talk through the courses on offer and there will be galleries of previous student work on display as well as interactive demonstrations for visitors to learn more. Residents intrigued about the world of adult learning are welcome to bring the rest of the family along to the open day, where they can join in fun games and arts and crafts activities, as well as take part in competitions and raffles.
Leading ACL Essex is Katherine Burns, Principal. She’s keen to highlight the courses on offer to help the people of Essex thrive. She explains: “We’re at the heart of our communities across Essex supporting residents to gain skills and qualifications to help with their career development or personal goals and want to use this opportunity to inspire residents to get involved with lifelong learning.
She continued: “We’ve also launched new programmes to help people improve their mental health and wellbeing and invested in new online learning programmes, to offer greater access to our services for residents across the county.”
ACL centres offer a wide range of qualifications and skills, plus apprenticeships and professional learning, as well as core subjects, such as English, Maths, Science and digital. There’s also supported learning for people with learning difficulties, creative and cultural learning, mental health and wellbeing, plus community and family learning.
